Council of Inventors Decree

In the 2nd millennium of Merida, King Alduin released a decree that created a Council of Inventors.

      The document reads as follows:
  >Document Begin<
In the year of 2084, I, King Alduin of Merida,

  • Recognizing that the world is vaster than we have been led to understand
  • Seeing the amazing accomplishments of the merchant Onfa Bremin and his group of friends who call themselves 'inventors'
  • Seeing the many improvements that this group of Inventors have been able to make in the fields of agriculture and the lives of the citizens of this country
  • Seeing the benefits in trade and taxes with neighboring countriesAnd recognizing the blessing of the Gracious Lady and the Warden on all their works,

  • I decree the establishment of the Council of Inventors.

The Council will be based in the city of Tylren, the same city as the Council of Wizards so that both councils can work together to use their realms of knowledge to continue to benefit the country of Merida and all of the children of Merida.
>Document End<

While the decree was protested by the Council of Wizards, the King’s magical ability and his wizards kept the Council of Wizards from attacking the newly formed Council of Engineers and interfering with their efforts. What no one understood was the reason behind the decree.

The Council of Wizards assumed that the decree was a result of the King’s interest in the trial of Onfa Bremin and the friendship that the King granted the young inventor. But the truth was simpler than that. It would take 5 years before the truth was even suspected. The King’s daughter had no magical abilities. The King’s decree served as a counter weight to the power that the Council of Wizards held and protected the power and place of his daughter, Princess Maeve.
