Onfa Bremin of The Ledges

Onfa is a lizardman (otherwise called in this world  a member of the Huthal).
The Huthal are one of the children that Sestus raised up across the southern border of Merida and brought with him to Merida to attack the children in Merida.  Huthal are usually no shorter than 5'8" and are broad across the shoulder and mid-section.  They have four arms that are muscular.  They typically stronger than the children of the Warden and the Gracious Lady.  They have a broad face that resembles a snake's head with spiky teeth when they smile.  Their green skin varies from family to family.  Some Huthal have jeweled spots that shimmer on their head, neck and arms, others have red spotty coloring and others are without marking.  They are bipedal and most don't have a tail that is visible, those fell off when they evolved into the  Huthal.
Onfa has no markings, but a scar on his lower right hand from an accidental encounter with Wild Magic when he was a child.  Onfa grew up on the ledges.  His father was a trader, so he had more access to the outside world than most Huthal.  His father was very good at selling.  He succeeded in his trading of jewels, minerals and herbs found in the Ledges in spite of the bias against the Huthal.  He befriended a Gelnin (children of the Warden) and they partnered to grow their business beyond the cities in the lands near the Warden's shrine.  That relationship benefited Onfa as he was able to go to a Gelnin school.  Onfa's love of learning and his intelligence made him a favorite of his teachers.  The only thing Onfa could not overcome was the gap between magic users and everyone else.
But Onfa was driven to learn more about the world and how things worked.  He worked for his father in the daytime, but worked in his own laboratory at night, trying to answer questions fascinated him about the world.  Onfa eventually took over his father's business and became a natural scientist, learning the difference between the wild magic in The Ledges and the lightning that set fire and struck trees.  He learned how to harness the force.  His discoveries and inventions were challenged by the Council of Wizards, but were supported by the merchants, who were usually non-magical children of Merida and interested in the efficiencies his work gave to them and their businesses.
The Council of Wizards charged him with violating the laws of nature and brought him before the Council.  Onfa was locked up and spent a month in jail.  During that time, one of the merchants that he helped with his miraculous inventions reached out to the King's Chancellor, Castien Gilwenys.  On the day of the trial, the proceedings started with a gavel proceedings.  Onfa's read of the Council (9 wizards who represented the magic schools) was not optimistic.  Most of them looked at the papers taken from his workshop and the testimony of other wizards and had asked questions that did not give him a chance to explain his work.
The proceedings were interrupted by a trumpet and the King and his retinue entered the chamber.  The Chancellor announced his presence and a throne that was placed at the back of the chamber was hastily brought up to sit behind the table of Wizards, who nervously glanced behind him.  While the King had no say in the matter, some whispered, he definitely had some sway over the outcome.  Onfa made his case and the King asked a number of questions of the Huthal inventor and the Wizards who were interrogating him.  In the end, the Head of the Council dismissed the charges, explaining to the King and the audience of townspeople and merchants that the Council simply wanted to investigate the complaints and would monitor Onfa's experiments in the future.  Onfa was released and was able to continue his work.  But it was just the first of his encounters with the King.
