The Huthal: Forgotten Children of Sestus

The Huthal are Sestus' children from beyond the southern border of Merida from thousands of years ago.
Sestus found their ancestors in a jungle near the equator.  He shaped their minds and their bodies so that most Huthal are from 5'8" to 7'.  They are broad across the shoulder and mid-section. They have four arms that are muscular with sausage thick fingers with needle sharp claws.  They typically stronger than the children of the Warden and the Gracious Lady. They have a broad face that resembles a snake's head with needle sharp teeth when they smile. Their green skin varies from family to family. Some Huthal have jeweled spots that shimmer on their head, neck and arms, others have red spotty coloring and others are without marking.
They are bipedal and most don't have a tail that is visible, those fell off when they evolved into the Huthal. Onfa has no markins, but a scar on his lower right hand from an accidental encounter with Wild Magic when he was a child.  When the Huthal migrated with Sestus to Merida, they had no magic.  Similar to some of the Warden's children, they were gifted with great strength, intelligence and a knack for violence.  In other words, the exact tool Sestus needed to attack the children of the Warden and the Gracious Lady.
Sestus underestimated the determination of Ataos and Mauna to hold to the vow they had made when they came to Merida.  When Ataos and Mauna realized that Sestus had already violated their vow, they unleashed their joint power on him and his children.  Those Huthal that survived the fiery onslaught fled to the gash in the earth and the crevices and caverns that were revealed.  The magic that was unleashed hung in the air of the chasm that had been opened, crackling and sparking white and green lines of power.
After Sestus' defeat, Mauna had no love for the abandoned children of Sestus because they killed so many of her children from the North.  Ataos looked with favor on them and tried to ease their suffering in the depths of The Ledges.  He crafted more underground waterways and made markers for the areas of wild magic that lit up the night.  When she saw what Ataos had done, Mauna repented of her anger toward them and blessed the underearth with plants and mushrooms that were edible.
