Season 1: A Brewing War

General Summary

8th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party of adventurers meets at the Northgates of Easthorn and begins their journey to Berg. They spend the day traveling to the border without incident and, once the appropriate papers are shown, cross into Berg. Tuisan insults the wall. The group settles to camp shortly after sunset and the night passes peacefully.

9th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

After a few hours of walking with the city of Grenzlinie just on the horizon, the group notices a large shape flying/falling toward the wall. Wrell recognizes it as a dragon. The guards on the wall fire on the dragon who, after crash landing, retaliates by burning them and their ballista to ash. A group of kobolds descends on the scene and set about repairing the dragon's broken wooden wings. The dragon and kobolds flee back toward the mountains.   The party continues toward Grenzlinie, where they are intercepted by a squad of Shivi (border guards). Captain Balasar Nor'Ixius III listens to their tale, insists they present their story to the Lord Rulers, and takes them to the Lord's Palace. A group of teenagers, soon revealed to be young dragons, are veyr interested in what the party has to say, but are shooed away by Lord Teigan.   The party has an audience with Lord Teigan and Lord Vumma where they tell their tale and learn that the dragon they witnessed is Nykkan the Mad whose wings and breath were removed as punishment for the murder of another dragon. The group is tasked with the destruction of the kobolds that are aiding Nykkan and offered a reward of 20gp per pair of horns. Awon learns that dragons can change their shape. The party is harassed by the young dragons as they exit and reveal their mission. The young dragons promptly fly off.   The group spends the rest of the day going about their various tasks. Awon, Eccaia, and Tuisan attempt to gather information from Wake, the tabaxi bartender at The Spit Pub, but mostly just manage to piss him off. Tuisan is pick-pocketed. Niven goes book shopping and visits a brothel. Wrell catches up with Suriel at the Platinum Sanctuary. The party spends the night at the temple.

10th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

Awon and Eccaia join Wrell in the morning prayers before the group sets out for the mountains. The kobold tracks are fairly easy to follow into the mountains though at one point they disappear. The party stumbles upon a massacre of about fifteen kobolds (5 charred, 4 slashed, 4 beaten, 2 with bloody eyes and ears). Some are missing their eyes. Awon gathers 10 pairs of kobold horns. One kobold is still alive, mad and muttering about the sky. They are put out of their misery and their horns are collected. Niven deduces that this scene is the result of an ambush gone wrong.   The kobold tracks reappear after another couple of miles and as the sunset the party comes across a small campsite in the mountains. Tuisan spies three humans hiding behind a small rock slide. Niven gets caught in a magical snare. The new people cautiously greet the party and offer to share their meal. Tuisan harasses them with questions and finds a flask of kobold eyes. They explain that they are from the north traveling through the mountains to reach the coast. Two of their companions who were still hiding step forward and join the rest of the group.   The party spends the evening with the mysterious group of travelers who reveal to some of the party that they are from Rouyenne and traveling to gain a knowledge of dragons.   Cai informed Awon that he had died at some point.   Twoscar scared Tuisan by speaking of her travels to hell.

11th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party left the new group and found the kobold caverns, marked by a sapling full of nails.   Inside they met resistance from the kobold in the for of fighters and traps.   The group fought their way through to the "bed chamber" where they agreed to spare the remaining kobolds as long as they fled and never returned. The kobolds gathered their eggs (except one) and left. Wrell took the remaining egg.   Eccaia (and Toast) snuck upstairs to speak with the dragon and left with a dead kobold. Wrell attempted to negotiate with the dragon but was confronted with a deadly predator. Instead he gave the dragon the wing blueprints he had found and quickly left.   The group left the caverns and traveled to Stathford.   They arrived at the Fire Spire, Wrell and Niven's forge/home and met their apprentice, a purple tiefling named Zalith. She informed them that Nicholas' daughter had gone missing and so he had shut down his forge. Wrell settles his egg in and writes up care instructions to leave with Zalith.   Eccaia reveals to the party that she is a changeling.

12th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party goes to the Westcott house to investigate Abigail's disappearance. After speaking to her father, suitor, employer, and brothers they find out:
  • She was last seen three days ago.
  • There are claw marks outside her window and on the floor of her room.
  • She believed that her suitor, Frederick was going to propose soon.
  • She was excited about the engagement but also wondered if she was settling.
  • She made the engagement ring.
  • The ring is also missing and was last seen two days ago.
  • She had been speaking to Meph, a tiefling and local eccentric, more often in the days before she disappeared.

13th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The group visits Meph in the morning (at Hubert's Respite) to speak to him about Abigail. He explains that she had been complaining to him about wanting a richer, more exquisite life and so he had sent "a friend" of his to arrange such things for her. Eccaia requests his friend visit her that night at the forge.   Awon buys a heating rock at the alchemist's shop.   Late that night, a stranger approaches the house, killing an invisible Skai who was sent to spy on anyone approaching.   He is greeted by Wrell, Eccaia, and an invisible Awon (though he sees right through that). He introduces himself as Mephistopheles. He explains that if they want their questions answered they must make a deal with him. One day of service from one person for each question answered. The group declines and offends the stranger by not knowing who he is (Mephistopheles, the Lord of No Mercy, Duke of Cania) and he scratches Wrell's table. He says that if they wish to reconsider they can find him at the Rift and, with much grovelling and gifts, he might make a deal with them.

14th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The group briefly discusses their visitor from the previous night, before their breakfast is interupted by Xynyth, Stathford's Shivi. She arrests them for the attempted murder of a dragon and high treason. Wrell manages to convince her to escort them to Grenzlinie instead of waiting in the prison.   She gets horses for the group and pushes them to ride fast.

15th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

After more hard riding, the group is approached by a squad of Shivi led by Balasar and escorted to the Lord's palace in Grenzlinie. Balasar explains that a family has vouched for Tuisan so he will not have to stand trial and that King Emeleth has personally flown to Grenzlinie to question them.   The group explains to Emeleth, Teigan, and Vumma that they encountered another group in the mountains who are likely responsible for the attack on Nykkan. Emeleth deems them too weak to have done the damage to his son's son and leaves.   The group gives Teigan their bag of horns and are told that their reward will be gathered and sent to them at the Platinum Sanctuary.   Meanwhile Tuisan is given a letter by Balasar to which he promptly responds.   The group exits the throne room and questions Tuisan about his friends in high places. He only says that he has a friend he has been writing who must have spoken on his behalf (It was a surprise to him too). Niven and Tuisan go book shopping. Tuisan buys 16 books. Niven buys "Tome of Foes".   Awon and Eccaia cause mischief in the Scale Square.   Wrell serves at the temple.   That night Awon dreams of stealing a silver from a man and changing his face. He awakens a few blocks from the temple and spends the rest of the evening writing and drawing in his journal.

16th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

After morning service, one of the Shivi arrive with a small coin purse to pay the group and a request from Teigan that the party attend him at their convenience.   The group immediately heads to the palace and are directed to Teigan's study. They overhear Teigan speaking with (presumably other dragons) about recalling their relatives from Rouyenne and potentially leaving Berg all together for fear of an oncoming war.   The group is called in and told that Rouyenne has announced a new military training program called NEWT (Nuzduld's Elite Wizard Training) and Teigan suspects the group they encountered is a part of it. He questions them thoroughly about the adventurers they met and then probes into Niven's history with CURSED. He mentions that one of the CURSED colleagues is in Ostra serving Gavyrad (something with an S). The group is dimissed.   As they leave, the couple Teigan was speaking with explains their dilemma of having family in Rouyenne, but being concerned about leaving their own children in the city unsupervised. Wrell suggests that the temple may be able to care for their children for a couple of days.   The group leaves Grnezlinie for Stathford.

17th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The group makes their way to Stathford and finds that Zalith has burned Wrell's table because it had been cursed and made the forge fire uncontrollable. She also mentions that Nicholas' smithy is up and running once again.   The group recounts their ventures over dinner.   Wrell gathers supplies to construct a new table. Eccaia and Awon play cards/talk. Niven gets some reading in. Zalith and Tuisan are shoved out the door by Niven as he seeks peace and quiet.   Zalith shows Tuisan the town square and shares some of the rumors surrounding Geoffrey Rayden, hero of the Dragon War. The pair go to Hubert's Respite where Tuisan speaks with Meph.   Meph explains that a tiefling could lead him to the Rift in the abandoned mines. Zalith refuses to go until she is thoroughly sloshed.   Eventually the drunk tiefling and Tuisan make their ways to the mines where she leads him down a labyrinthine path to a jagged crack in the mine wall. Peering through, Tuisan witnesses an icy wasteland and quickly hurries away before its fiendish inhabitants can get a hold of him.   The pair return very late to the Fire Spire, and cause quite the commotion as they enter. Niven berates both Zalith and Tuisan. And eventually, everyone makes it to bed.

18th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party awakens at the Fire Spire (Zalith sleeping in and waking very hungover). Tuisan relays exactly what they encountered in the mines the night before and insists that the group travel down there to investigate.   The party obliges and, following the map created by Zalith's drunken navigation, makes their way to The Rift.   Eccaia and Toast venture through and inspect a frozen bookshelf, managing to thaw and retrieve a single grimoire before an ice devil emerges from the storm to accost them.   They briefly probe further into the mines, but finding it warmer, return to The Rift.   The party enters once again and is confronted by Mephistopheles. He accuses them of trespassing in his domain and theft and demands they pay for their crimes. A deal is struck for the group: the devil will answer 3 questions regarding Abigail, the party will owe him 3 favors, and upon their death their arcana will belong to him. The party signs the contracts.   They ask how to get to Abigail and Mephistopheles describes crossing the sea to Praiwind, traveling to a southern city, and visiting a lord's manor. They ask why she left and he explains that she sought a richer, more powerful husband and so struck a deal with him. They ask how Abigail would escape her contract and he explains that a renegotiation would be the only way to alter the terms.   The party leaves the mines and goes about the rest of their day. Tuisan insists that they leave soon and guide him to Ornesk.   Awon is awoken in the middle of the night by Cai, who hints that she knows who he is and encourages him to leave quickly or he will "burn again". He awakens the others and they flee and someone asaults the house with fireballs. Two cloaked figures wait outside the back door to ambush them but one flees and one is killed in a fireball. Niven attempts to pursue the fireslinger but they escape into the night.

19th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

Xynyth and Zalith respond to the house fire; Xynyth annoyed and Zalith concerned and shocked. Xynyth hears a brief summary of the events and then leaves to arrange for lodging at Hubert's Respite. Niven and Zalith put out the flames. Some items are recovered from the burnt ruins. Tuisan finds a roof to rest on until morning, Eccaia and Awon rest by the house, and Niven and Wrell seek shelter at Hubert's. Hubert mentions that a strange bird person was in the night before asking about Niven.   Tuisan, Eccaia, and Wrell spend the morning searching through the wreckage for anything of importance. Tuisan recovers the fireheart, Eccaia some horseshoes, and Awon the shop's sign. Niven and Wrell inform Nick of his daughters whereabouts. Wrell and Niven are shadowed by a cloaked figure back to the Fire Spire. The figure reveals himself to be Master Snake Rattle, one of the instructors from Niven's childhood. He shares with Niven some information regarding the survivors of his class and a bit about NEWWT before teleporting away.   After much discussion the party decides to head to Ostra to speak with Sturvick by way of Dvarg Mark.

20th - 21st of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party makes their way toward Dvarg Mark, helping a kind farming family repair their overturned cart along the way.

22nd of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party arrives at the gates to Dvarg Mark and Wrell attempts to negotiate their way in.

23rd of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

Bheladin, an old friend of Wrell's and an author of one of Tuisan's books, gains them entry into the city. He leads the party to his residence and advises them to stay put while he goes and attempts to arrange transport through the mountains for them. The party raids the house, discovering Bheladin's books and they begin to read all of them. Bheladin's parents (Steelwrought and Flamekeeper) return home. They allow the party to stay the night and provide them with dinner. Bheladin brings papers to be signed for transport via cart the next day.

24th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

Tuisan commissions some fancy armor. The party ventures through the mountain via cart.

25th of Goodmonth – 28th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party rides the cart through the mountains, reading books and not speaking to each other the whole way.

29th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The party is led blindfolded out of the mountains and left in the foothills. They begin to journey toward Ostra.

30th of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

The kobold egg begins to hatch. A small winged gray kobold is born. Wrell names him Dio. An imp sent by Mephistopheles stops the group as they travel, giving them three candles to light in a nearby crypt. Eccaia is given a candle "in case she changes her mind". The party does as they are told. Eccaia lights her candle and nearly blasts all of them to death.   The party arrives in Ostra and finds accomodation at the Frigate's Rest.

31st of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

Tuisan goes book shopping. Wrell, Eccaia, and Awon go candy and toy shopping.   Niven travels to the lord's manor to seek an audience with Sturvick. He is waylayed by Jameson, Sturvick's secretary, and waits for an hour before barging past and into Sturvick's office/lab. Sturvick and Niven have a sour conversation.   Niven returns to the inn upset. He yells at Tuisan. Eccaia and Awon attempt to comfort him.

32nd of Goodmonth, 406 P.A.

A messenger arrives in the morning and declares that the party has been summoned to the lord's manor for high tea. More appropriate attire has been provided for them.   After changing into their new attire, the party is taken by carriage to the lord's manor. There Jameson greets them at the front door and leads them to the Tea Room. He explains that "Grand Wizard Fogwing" has been caught up in some matters of importance and so the Lady Delmira will be entertaining. Lady Delmira is a friendly bronze dragon who politely inquires on the party's connections to Sturvick, their past, and their previous interactions with dragons, specifically her sister who travelled to Easthorn to fetch her child and hasn't been heard from since.   Sturvick eventually joins the party and tensions run high as he is questioned about Niven and his mutual history. Niven nearly leaves, but Sturvick attempts an apology and requests that he stay. Sturvick shares that he has been keeping an eye on the party since they entered the city and on Niven for much longer. He says that he, Nara, and Vennah (other classmates of his and Niven's) have been keeping an eye on the new program and working to find a way to subtly dismantle it. He also says that they have been working to discover a cure for the runes that afflict them all, but their only conclusion is that the side effects will kill them within the next decade. He tells them much about NEWWT. He gives them a sending stone and five message earrings to better communicate with him and each other.   The party requests that he quicken their journey to Ornesk, which he agrees to as soon as he handles the undead problem.   The party agrees to handle the problem for him instead. Sturvick agrees to arrange care for Dio.   The party returns to the graveyard to find some ghouls and ghasts, gnawing on the corpse of the gravedigger. They eliminate the undead and Tuisan discovers a way to quench the hellfire candles.   They return to the Frigate's Rest late at night.

1st of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party (minus Niven) go to the Lord's manor to inform Sturvick of their success. They are directed, by Jameson, to Sturvick's home where they find him struggling to bathe Dio. With some assistance the little kobold is cleaned.   They inform Sturvick of the issue and give him the candles. He agrees to transport them as soon as they are ready.   The party gathers Niven and returns to the Lord's manor.   Sturvick takes them to a teleportation circle. He gifts Tuisan a Bag of Tomes, where he can store up to 200 books extra-dimensionally. He gives Niven a copy of his research on the runes and their cures and an elixir of health from Nara.   The party is teleported to Ornesk.   The group arrives in Ornesk early in the morning. Lord-Ruler Bryvyris Fenume welcomes the party and invites them to wait until Tuisan's friends arrive. After an hour, the Shivi notifies them of their friends impending arrival and leads them through the tower to the front doors. Three silver dragons can be seen approaching and Tuisan takes off, eager to greet his friend.   The party is introduced to Mivalya, Tuisan's young silver dragon friend, and her parents, Zeidon and Frymyrn. They are invited to spend time at the dragon's home and given a ride there. The home is a collection of towers made of sparkling skystone, solid clouds.   Tuisan and Mivalya catch up. Wrell and Niven do some research on kobolds and the Feywild. Eccaia noses around the towers and ends up helping Zeidon prepare dinner.   During dinner, Tuisan begins to question the dragons about Mivalya's impending mate choice. The dragons, attempting to avoid a scene invite Tuisan to discuss the matter in private. Everyone ekse eavesdrops.   The pair explain their reasoning for allowing their daughter to be mated to a white dragon and ask Tuisan for his help in convincing Mivalya that the choice is a good one. They have arranged for Vang to be in the area for the next week if Tuisan wants to meet him to decide for himself.   Mivalya confronts Tuisan before heading to bed. She refuses to join him on the meeting and recommends he take the others for safety.

2nd of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Awon dreams of a dark figure who calls himself Bane. He reassures Awon that he is not undead, nor is he human. He warns Awon against seeking his past and assigns him the duty of "protecting the sanctity of death and punishing those who would desecrate the bodies and souls of the dead." He also tells Awon that some hellspawn is looking for him to "lead him away from his destined path."   After breakfast, the group is called aside by Frymyrn and given a scroll of windwalk to aid them in their journey to find Vang.   They fly through the mountains unable to find a dragon, but eventually finding the mammoth herd Vang is supposed to be hunting. They spy an elf-looking man watching the herd and then attacking and killing a mammoth.   Awon approaches with a healing potion, startling the man into attacking. The man ignores the offered potion and quickly heals himself. Tuisan and Eccaia join Awon as he begins to question the hunter.   The hunter is not particularly interested in speaking with the group, but eventually reveals that he is in fact Vang. Tuisan asks many personal questions, until Vang refuses to answer any more.   The party returns to the Skyshard Towers.   Zeidon has taught Dio some of his draconic letters.   Awon and Eccaia discover that he is a changling. Niven reads more books. Tuisan and Mivalya talk.   A loud crash disturbs the group and see through the windows that an injured white dragon has landed, quickly speaking with Zeidon and Frymyrn who promptly fly off.   Vang enters the towers and the group questions him (again). He explains that he stumbled across a remorhaz and that Zeidon and Frymyrn have gone to finish it off. Mivalya leaves to go after her parents   Tuisan begs Vang to follow after and bring her back which Vang reluctantly agrees to.   Mivalya is upset when she returns, immediately heading to her room.   Tuisan attempts to speak with her, but the conversation ends with her punching him down the stairs.   Frymyrn and Zeidon returned relatively unharmed.

3rd of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Frymyrn and Mivalya are absent from breakfast in the morning.   Zeidon apologizes for Frymyrn's absence, explaining that the conflict with the remorhaz has left him feeling unlike himself.   The party says nothing when Zeidon asks about Mivalya's absence. Vang eventually saying that he may have said something to irritate her.   Tuisan bring breakfast to Mivalya's room. She is cold to him, but accepts the breakfast. After a heart felt plea from Tuisan ("I am not a dragon, just a bird.") Mivalya admits that she just wants to feel like he is on her side and hat he is her friend and he will always be welcome in her home. She still refuses to come to breakfast since Vang is there   Upon returning to the table, Vang offers to go speak with her which the party quickly shoots down. Vang shrugs and leaves the table.   As breakfast draws to a close, Zeidon receives some sort of telepathic message and explains to the party that he and Frymyrn have been summoned to the Silver Tower. They offer to bring the party along if they have any interest in seeing the town of Ornesk. The party agrees.   Upon their arrival in Ornesk, there are a dozen silver and white dragons milling about the silver tower.   Niven and Wrell find the Chronoscope and gain visitor's passes. Niven researches local history. Wrell discovers Coavun's account of the Feywild.   Tuisan, Awon, and Eccaia explore town. After a few hours the group spies two smaller dragons (one white and one silver) flying overhead. Tuisan identifies Vang and Mivalya, notices that they are both battered and burned, and immediately flies away to investigate. Vang rolls his eyes and leaves the pair to talk. Mivalya tells Tuisan that they have been remorhaz hunting and that all the dragons have been summoned to the tower by the Lord Rulers.   There's a bunch of earring juggling.   The dragons return to the group quiet and tense, telling the group they will fill them in once they are safely in the towers.   Upon their arrival, Frymyrn leads the party to a parlor. He explains that there was a riot in Easthorn and a dragon was killed. The bronze family had lived in Easthorn for many years, and felt safe there, refusing the summons to Berg. A group of citizens broke into their manor in the night, dragged their wyrmlings into the streets, and began to beat them. The parents responded, Faux sending his mate, Mores, to flee with their wyrmlings. The citizens mobbed and killed him.   The news only gets worse: Bronze (Jasin, Thava, Dadalan, Delmira, Miarre), Blue (Kriv, Ratiel, and Gavyrad), and Hybrid (Pymmal, Pyndris) dragons descend destroying the city in retaliation.   Rouyenne has declared war on Berg.   The dragons are still deciding how to respond.   Frymyrn leaves the party to discuss the issue. Niven and Wrell wish to return to Stathford to remove Zalith from danger. Tuisan insists that they invite Mivalya.   After dinner, Zeidon offers to share a story. After asking many depressing questions, Zeidon finally explains how Berg came to be home to the dragons; the story of the Dragon War.   The group speaks to Mivalya who seems surprised that the group is leaving, much less heading south. And says she will take their offer into consideration. Tuisan spies her fiddling with something and INSISTS she tell him what it is. She dodges the questions initially before finally confessing that the small prism was a gift from Vang.

4th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

At breakfast, the dragons are still quiet and tense. Mivalya tells Tuisan that she intends to stay, at least until the Kings and Lord Rulers figure out what their next move is. The party explains their plan to leave and their hope to find someone to teleport them to Grenzlinie. Mivalya and Zeidon agree to see what they can do.   After a couple hours, Mivalya returns to the group to tell them that Burana is coming to the towers to teleport them.   Burana arrives. She is a large silver dragon whose assumes an elven form very similar to Bryvyris. She is excited to meet the group saying that she has heard much about them. After some questioning she reveals that she has heard of them from Vang, who speaks highly of them. Tuisan asks her opinion of Vang, and she reveals that she raised the white dragon.   She finishes the teleportation circle and sends the group to Grenzlinie.   The group arrives in the teleportation room of Grenzlinie and is immediately surrounded by a squad of Shivi. Their silver draonborn leader demands to know who they are, where they are from, and what they are doing in Grenzlinie. The party explains they have come from Ornesk (via Burana Fenume) to offer their services to Teigan. They are informed taht Teigan is absent, but they can speak with the General or Vumma.   Niven requests to speak with Vumma. The party is left in the teleportation room under guard for a while until Captain Balasar arrives. They explain their goals to him and he eventually leads them through the busy courtyard to his cramped office. He eventually digs up a memo and explains to the party that the dragon's hoard was left in their manor when they fled. The dragons need a particular artifact (an orb) retrieved from the hoard and the teleportation circle in their lair destroyed. The party agrees to the mission.   Wrell elects to stay in the city with Dio since stealth isn't exactly his forte.   The party goes to The Spit Pub where they speak with bartender Wake. They learn that there isn't much left of Easthorn and the gates to Uppsund are closed. The Easthorn gate is still being guarded. And after some bribery, that Wake knows someone who can smuggle them through the wall and arranged for them to be picked up at midnight by the Dragon-Scarred Wall.   Awon and Tuisan get wasted. Eccaia and Niven dragged their drunk friends to the river, noting the refugee camp near the Uppsund gates. The mysterious boatman waits for them on the river and with minor incident (Awon falls in the water and gets slapped) they board the boat. Everyone sleeps as the boatman guides them down the river.

5th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party wakes (some hungover) as the boat bumps against the shore to the northwest of Easthorn. As the sun rises, they get their first look at the devastation the dragons wrought on the city. The double walls the guarded the north side of the city have been turned to rubble and buildings have been burned or torn down. Bloated and burned bodies litter the wreckage their valuables having already been lifted by looters.   The party makes their way through to the east side of the city without seeing another living soul. There they find a bronze dragon's head mounted on a pike being guarded by two men with spears. They sending the guards off by convincing them they are their relief. Awon removes two teeth from the dragon skull.   Niven finds a partially open trapdoor that leads down to a lair (nearly killing Toast in the process). Awon remains above to keep watch. Inside the cavern echoes with ominous whaling. They find empty nests, the teleportation circle, and an underwater tunnel. Niven and Tuisan manage to dispel the circle.   They travel through the tunnel to a chamber containing a dragon's hoard. As they emerge from the water, a ghostly dragon appears, his low growl rumbling the cave.   Tuisan tells the dragon they have been sent by Teigan to retrieve the orb. After some convincing the dragon acquiesces, rolling the orb across the stones to the party. After further questioning about the state of his family and a final request that the lair be sealed, he vanishes back into the hoard.   The party leaves the hoard, calling Awon down to destroy the underwater tunnel. They escape the wreckage of the manor and leave the city, heading for the Easthorn gate along with a number of refugees.   Tuisan flies the orb over the wall without incidence, meeting the others who pass through the gate, giving fake names and paying the fee.

6th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The travels along the wall, arriving in Grenzlinie late in the evening.   The party arrives late in the evening and heads for the Lord's district to return the orb. They are stopped and questioned by a Captain of the Shivi at the gate before Balasar, now a General, arrives and collects the orb. He tells them to come speak with him the following day about payment.   The party heads to The Platinum Sanctuary which is packed near to bursting. There they reunite with Wrell briefly before leaving to stay at an inn for the night.

7th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party returns to the Lord's Manor to speak with Balasar who explains that Cynrie is currently the copper in charge and she is the only one with access to the funds to pay them. She is also currently out visiting the refugee camps.   The party heads to the camp to find Cynrie (and Vumma) regaling the displaced children with stories. She greets the party and invites them to return to the manor with her. Along the way she probes the group for their thoughts on the coming war, particularly interested in the opinions of the Rouyennese in the group. Vumma is silent and aloof as usual.   The group makes their way to the manor and Cynrie pays them 30 platinum.   The party elects to travel to Stathford that night and rents horses from The Gilded Gelding surprisingly run by a twelve year old boy.

8th of Highsun 406 P.A.

The party arrives in Stathford in the late afternoon. The head immediately for the smith where they discover Nick seems to be blissfully ignorant about the war. Zalith is very excited to see them and knows more about the goings ons of the world.   Niven and Wrell explain their plan to relocate her and her family somewhere safer. She listens and says that she was actually already thinking of relocating… to Grenzlinie since the war brings work. But she will consider what they have said.   The party goes drinking that night at Hubert's Respite.

9th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Tuisan awakens about a mile away, naked, in the mountains covered in the fresh skin of a lamb. Eccaia awakens in the bar wearing only a thong with and invitation from a Lord Jeremy Hydrakeeper in Varcrast. Hubert also gives her a leather parrot mask, a gift from Lord Jeremy.   Zalith arrives with her bags packed, ready to leave Stathford wherever they may be going.

10th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party returns to Grenzlinie and spends the day going about various activities. Wrell shows Zalith the various smiths. She deems them all "alright" or "okay". Niven and Tuisan discuss the creation of a banner and collect the materials to do so.   They spend the night at the inn.

11th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

During breakfast, there is a commotion in the streets and the party joins the rest of the population outside to witness the return of a massive copper dragon, Lord Ruler Teigan Ar'Jarit.   After witnessing Teigan's arrival, the party travels to the Lord's Manor. A courier tells them that Balasar is in a meeting with the dragons. The party elects to wait and Zalith wanders around chatting up the Shivi and soldiers. She returns with news that she has signed up to join the Shivi to work as a blacksmith and receive training in magic. Upon Balasar's return, he immediately takes the group to speak with Teigan. Teigan laments the start of another war, informing the party that he was once called the Rapskallion and Master of Ales. He tells the party that Rouyenne's troops outnumber Berg's 3 to 1. So the dragon's proposed strategy is to take the wall without any draconic participation to prove Berg's might and gain a defensive advantage. Teigan wants the party to take the Easthorn Gatehouse and hold it until the troops can arrive. He offers them the aid of The Kobold Calvary and introduces them to Captain Smush, a kobold warrior. He also grants them each an item to aid them in their journey.   The party agrees and Smush introduces them to the rest of the Cavalry: a badger named Martha.   The party spends the day running errands in town.

12th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party travels to the wall, entering via a secret passage.   They move through the wall toward the gate, encountering a single guard as they approach the gatehouse. Eccaia puts him to sleep and Awon assumes his appearance. The pair lie their way into the gatehouse proper and enchant a knight to perceive everyone as enemies.   The rest of the party charges in. Fireballs are thrown attracting guard from other floors and the other tower. Together they manage to clear out all the guards.   They bury the dead and settle in the barracks to sleep.

13th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party spends the day searching the gatehouse. They find:
  • 142 gp
  • An armory containing spears, javelins, shields, and plate, splint, and studded leather armor.
  • a miniature portrait of a woman
  • a gold ring wrapped in a handkerchief embroidered with "S.K."
  • A number of letters/notes
  • "Brendan, You still owe me 200 gp. -Silo"
  • "I packed you extra socks in case you get your feet wet out there on the coast -Mum"
  • "Fresh made tin buttons comin' sot just at the pinky by the wet swingin iron" (New counterfeit silvers coming south at sunrise by the river gate)
  • "My dearest Alexander, I heard news of the attack on Easthorn and am afraid to say I was much relieved to hear those beasts left the wall untouched. I pray every day for your safety and that Eldath's peace protects you just a while longer. I eagerly await your return at the end of the month and I can't wait for you to meet our little girl. She has been blessed with your smile. No matter the distance between us, it is for you my heart always aches. -With Love Your Always, Elizabeth"
  • A dirty but well dressed refugee approaches the gatehouse to inquire about the events of the previous night. Eccaia tells him that some soldiers were sick but everything is fine.

14th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party spends another night and morning in the gatehouse. They discuss having an official group name coming up with "The Platinum Banner".   Two (irritated) bronze dragons arrive and briefly speak with the party. They inform them that they passed by a company of soldiers who should arrive before nightfall.   The same refugee approaches after the dragon's departure. He says his name is Lord Carlisle Walton and requests passage for himself and the other refugees. The party agrees to allow them into the gatehouse for an interview and then the arriving commander will decide what to do with them.   The company arrives just before sunset, lead by Captain Aenon Caffafelon. She tells the party to allow the refugees through, though there is no room for them in Grenzlinie.   The party returns to Grenlinize, arriving very early the next morning.

15th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party goes to the Lord's Manor and briefly speaks with Cynrie, before Balasar arranged a meeting with Teigan & Vumma. They give their report and Teigan gives them their payment (20 pp). He says he has no further work for them as they have to see how the wall takeover goes. Wrell requests that Smush be allowed to accompany him to the Storm Forest. Teigan approves and offers teleportation from his Shivi.   The party heads to The Road's Rest to catch up on their sleep. Upon waking, Niven shells out money and everyone parts ways to go about their various shopping activities.   The city is bustling in preparation for the Summer Solstice Festival.   Mephistopheles visits Niven in the night, giving him hellfire to carry for 24 hours and instructs him to light the summer solstice bonfire.

16th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party finds music streaming through the streets as early as sunrise. After having breakfast and preparing for the day, the party heads for the festivities.   There are flower crowns for sale (Eccaia purchases one for everyone), music, dancing, and fire mages showing off.   Niven takes the opportunity to show up some of the performers but is disturbed to find that the fire he summons is the purple hued hellfire. He elects to instruct children in the finer details of fire magic instead.   Tuisan wanders about the festival and finds the much smaller Long Tide ritual. He is baptized and given a vision inducing mushroom.   Eccaia joins the dancing and attracts the attention of a young man named Torak. Awon attempts to hex the man who shrugs the spell off. Awon panics. Eccaia spends most of the evening at Torak's side, sharing drinks and dancing.   As the time to light the onfire draws near, Tuisan and Niven begin to scheme on how to get around the devil's deal. They attract a small crowd and light their own bonfire for the celebration. Word spreads that there is a "child-sized" bonfire for leaping.   Janness, the black-copper dragon, is elected the Summer Queen and declares he brother, Ulbo, the Summer King. They light the bonfire.   Torak burns something, which when questioned he reveals was something of his brother's who died that year. Niven feeds the bonfire with hellfire. Tuisan notifies some clerics who eventually cleanse the fire.   Cynrie and Vumma return to the festival and announce that the Bergian troops have taken the wall. The festival goers cheer wildly.   The party remains until the early hours of the morning.   Eccaia promises to meet Torak in the same spot in one year's time.   The party returns to the Inn to sleep.

17th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

After waking up late the party deliberates on what they wish to do for the day.   Awon and Eccaia decide to get some water blessed as a potential weapon against Mephistopheles' next arrival. Tuisan joins them as they head to the Platinum Sanctuary. After some conversation with the cleric, Suriel, they agree to pray briefly. She agrees to blesss their flask and the party acquires holy vodka.   Meanwhile, Niven pursues a lost cat. He finds the creature, it slips away and then vanishes into the city.   The party reconvenes at the end where a very eager young messenger awaits them. He insists they come with him to the Lord's palace as a dragon has summoned them. He leads them to stairs that descend into Vumma's lair.   The black dragon wants them to find a package of hers that was supposed to arrive with a caravan the day before.   The party rides to the North Gate and questions Brennan Casterlot about the caravan schedule. He informs them that no caravan arrived the previous day and he does not know when the next should arrive (the caravan's don't send schedules to the city). The party leaves after thoroughly freaking him out.   A few hours ride outside the city, the party finds a barrel of pickled eggs and a broken crate. They find a ledge with rope and crossbow overlooking the road.   Skai scouts ahead and finds a large cavern filled with the ashes and embers of a bonfire of wagon pieces, crates, and barrels. A tressym launches out of the cavern with a screech.   Tuisan, following the tressym, sees a pair of dragonborn, red and blue, approaching.   Mornaar and Kiros approach the cavern, questioning what the party is doing in THEIR cave.   The party questions them and eventually they divulge that they may have acquired the goods from the caravan and their willing to give them some of it, for a price. Revealing the package contained a painting and it wasn't the only one, they want 100-150 gp for each. They send a runner to fetch the painting.   As the runner returns, Mornaar explains that they'll place the paintings and the money between the pair of them, make the exchange and then go on their ways.   Awon creates an illusion of Vumma approaching which only spurs the dragonborn to want to make the exchange faster. The party attacks.   They kill an archer and Kiros the blue. Mornaar surrenders and retreats without the paintings or money.   The party gathers the paintings: one of an elegant lady, one of flowers and fruit, and one of a copper and black dragon.   The party returns to the city.

18th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party approaches a carpenter to make a new box for the painting and return it to Vumma without being acidified.   As they exit, Balasar sends them to Teigan's office.   The Lord Ruler explains that the Frons have already requested a meeting to parlay about the end of the war. They and The Kings will be meeting in two weeks in Toutari, Isla. Representatives from each kingdom have been invited to the historic occasion. And Teigan wants Tuisan to attend as the Galelandic Ambassador. He doesn't trust the Frons and wants the party to keep an eye out for any tricks and report back.   Balasar, as general of the Shivi, will also be attending.   A ship departs from Ostra in a week's time. Teigan can have Medxan send them to the port city at any time. In the mean time, the party is offered accommodations within the manor though Tuisan must spend his time attending lessons and tutors on chivalry, etiquette, and culture.   Niven takes the captured tressym and gives it to the boy who lost his cat.

19th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

After spending the evening in the Lord's Manor of Grenzlinie, the party splits up for the day.   Tuisan attends his ambassadorship lessons.   Niven begins the ardurous task of copying spells from the various scrolls and books he has found along the way.   Awon and Eccaia wander the city in search of someone to rob. They fail to find any large-hatted nobles, but do briefly encounter Torak (and two other young men) in the Dragon District. Eccaia hides while Awon transforms into fat Eccaia and assails the men, causing them to quickly return to their large manor home.   Upon returning, Awon harasses Niven. The clutch passes by Eccaia, talking excitedly about some event happening in town. The party joins them and they tell them of The Thundercrawl Tavern, a location that only opens once a month where daring adventurers can test their skills against a dungeon of Teigan's design.   The party arrives at the secret tavern and witnesses the failure of a group calling themselves The Iron Sisters. Niven challenges the wizard orchestrating the event, saying that he could easily beat the dungeon on his own.   Niven does surprisingly well, nearly making it through the dungeon, but falling victim to a rickety wooden platform and flying swords.   The bar patrons (and young dragons) are impressed nonetheless and buy the party drinks for the night. Awon capitalizes on their temporary fame and hands out business cards.   Niven manages to insult the young black and black-copper dragons by called Vumma a "cruel and self-serving witch".   Eccaia is interrogated by the copper dragon, Syphein, about Torak and his romantic skills. She relates that Torak has been living it up lately as his mate will be chosen soon. Though probably not as soon as they though given that his brother was just murdered in Easthorn and his parents were exiled.   The party returns to the manor.

20th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Niven awakens with a double hangover (magical and alcoholic).   Balasar arrives at the party's rooms and informs them that Vumma learned of their comments the night before and is irritated. He recommends they make their way to Ostra sooner rather than later.   Niven sends apology candy to the clutch and Vumma.   Eccaia visits Torak.   The party gathers and is teleported to Ostra.   They are greeted by Admoira Astannes, secretary to the Magister. She gives them a brief tour of the manor and lays down the ground rules (3rd floor forbidden, stay out of the Grand Wizard's atrium). She tells them they should let her know if they need anything to make their stay more comfortable before departing.   After a short discussion about where they will actually be staying, Niven departs for the city. On the stairs, he passes Sturvick who is preoccupied with a book and discussion with Jameson. Sturvick doesn't initally notice Niven, until he reaches the top of the stairs. Niven hurries away. Sturvick turns to Eccaia and Awon and asks "What are you doing here?" The party informs Sturvick that they are there on "official dragon business". He tells them he wishes to speak with them later before rushing away to a meeting. The party finds the doors and windows of the manor inaccessible. Awon asks the cook about it and she explains that the Grand Wizard has secured the manor. The party eventually finds Jameson who tells them that a number of dragons are on house arrest due to their involvement in the razing of Easthorn. He offers to open the door for them and tells Niven to fetch silverbright rings so Sturvick can make keys for them.   The party finds "The Grumpy Goat" and meets Satyr, the elven shopkeep. He provides them with the Silverbright rings and shows of some of his wares. Niven inquires about consultation and commission.   Eccaia takes a lovely bath. Niven reads. Awon socializes with the servants and meets Salentin Whisperwinds, the temporary Grand Wizard. He learns that Sturvick is also attending the peace talks. The servants impression of the wizard is that he mostly keeps to himself, using Jameson to interact with them, but demands excellence and efficiency.

21st of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party attends breakfast with the staff and is briefly interrupted by the dragons, Noxis and Nuvann. Afterward, they settle down to play some cards.   Jameson finds them and tells them that Sturvick has requested to speak with them. The party finishes their game before heading to the wizard's atrium.   They find an exhausted looking Sturvick. He questions whether or not Niven should attend the peace talks given his temper, before giving the party a list of participants. Niven assure him that he can handle his temper just fine. Sturvick gives the party the keys he has crafted and reluctantly invites them to join him in visiting Nara in Isla. He and Niven briefly commiserate over their mutual dislike of sorcerers.   The party hangs out and plays cards.   Eccaia is confronted by Noxis, who demands to know where Torak is. She tells him she doesn't know and he refuses to reveal why he is concerned.

22nd of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Niven visits The Grumpy Goat and consults with Satyr about his idea. Satyr explains that he lacks the knowledge of the runes to help engineer the devices and depending on the level of complexity of the design he may also lack the skill. He recommends consulting with Sturvick as he has done extensive research on the runes and enchantments surrounding them. Satyr does inform Niven of the enchanting properties of different metals:
  • Darksteel is widely regarded as the most capable of holding strong enchantments and arcana, however there are no known sources and recycling enchanted materials can be dangerous.
  • Adamantine and Mithral have a moderate ability to hold enchantment and arcana but are more difficult to work with and require tremendous heat.
  • Silverbright has the lowest capacity for enchantment and arcana but is the most malleable and easiest to work.
Meanwhile, Awon and Eccaia go searching for a knockout potion and recreational drugs. There initial inquiries are unsuccessful and Awon returns to the manor. Eccaia turns back and purchases a poison and some hallucinatory tablets.   Tuisan arrives in Ostra just in time to teleport to Isla with the rest of the party.   They arrive on the white sand beach of Nihashi and are greeted by Nara, who is shocked and excited to see Niven. She invites them to join her for lunch.   The party meets Ayden and Lucas, Nara's children, who greet Sturvick with enthusiasm. They have lunch with Nara and her family, meet her husband, Nathan, who is a cleric of Sumtil, and do a little catching up.   Nara offers to show the group around town. They visit Nihashi proper where they encounter a commotion in the temple: the waters inside have been spoiled with bloody chum. They overhear Nathan and the head priest whispering about the Bridgemen before they are escorted outside.   Nara takes her leave and the party decides to snoop for more information. Eccaia and Awon discover that the Bridgemen are a group of terrorists who blame Sumtil for all of Isla's misfortunes. The hear someone speaking specifically of Pejor, presumably the leader, and discover he is a wealthy merchant in town. They locate his home, a large manor in the Inland VIllage, as well.   The party returns and joins Nara and her family for dinner. She and Niven reminisce about their childhood at Theramore.   Tuisan awkwardly attempts to sleep with the family. No one wants to be Sturvick's roommate.

23rd Highsun, 406 P.A.

Awon has a dream/memory about Skai.   Tuisan scopes out Pejor's manor.   Niven goes for a swim. Nara joins him and experiences a bout of paralysis. Sturvick aids her, crafting a floating disc for her to sit upon, and the pair leave for the druids to see how their magics help.   The party begins to plot their Pejor take-down.   Awon sends Skai to stalk Pejor throughout the day, observing that he lives in a guest house on his family's estate. The party uses magic to make Pejor paranoied in the marketplace and then appear delerious by making him laugh hysterically. He promptly returns home and locks himself in his room. That evening the party infiltrates the manor as new hires. They sneak into his bedroom. Awon smears feces across his bed and walls and steals a ring of keys from his room. Upon discovery of the mess, Pejor has the housekeeper fired. At night Awon has Skai wake Pejor and creep him out enough to seek refuge in the family manor. Awon throws a rock through the manor window which frightens the family enough to call the town guard to their home.   Niven speaks with Nara that night.

24th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

Niven speaks with Sturvick in the morning.   Awon suggests they disguise themselves as guards and Niven gets to work making a chain shirt.   At the manor, Awon summons a zombie illusion in front of Pejor and the guard watching him, and then enchants Pejor to believe everyone is his enemy. He then throws another rock through another window.   Pejor's parents, concerned for his well-being summon a cleric. Eccaia races to the temple and convinces Nathan to allow her (Cherry) to answer the summons.   Eccaia attempts to convince Pejor of the error of his ways, but he remains stubbornly obstinate. However, his parents heeds her advice and arrange for Pejor to take a relaxing stay away at their summer lodge in Rouyenne.

25th to 28th of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party enjoys a relaxing vacation in Isla.   Skai sees Pejor off.

29th to 32nd of Highsun, 406 P.A.

The party travels via carriage from Nihashi to Toutari. Upon their arrival, they meet with the Bergian party at The Arch Isle Palace. Balasar delivers a letter with the Galelandic seal to Tuisan. The party is escorted to their suite of rooms and gifted new formal clothing in the Islan style.   Niven and Tuisan speak briefly about Nuzduld and what they might expect upon seeing him.   That evening the party is escorted to the reception hall where the other representatives have already gathered to mingle and drink.   Tuisan briefly speaks with Sturvick about what to expect from Nuzduld. He is then apporached by Atan Tanyl who compliments Galeland's innovation and expresses interest in making a formal trade agreement. Tanyl is carefully neutral on all topics of war, expressing that the Raava care little about how it ends as long as it remains on their side of the sea.   Meanwhile, Awon sends Skai to invisibly follow Skai. Lenna points out the invisible creature to Skai and then swats Skai into oblivion. Lenna identifies Awon as the responsible party and Skai joins him at the bar. The pair briefly confront each other before Skai walks away.   Meanwhile, Niven is approached by Nuzduld and Twoscar, with Sturvick moving in to support him. Nuzduld's only motivation seems to be to irritate Niven, which he fails to do. Tuisan eavesdrops on the conversation and learns that Twoscar wants to set off Niven's temper in order to disrupt the talks.   Meanwhile, Greta approaches Eccaia, initially friendly, but then begins to pry into Awon's past. She tells Eccaia that Awon was using magic to stalk her guard and demands to know if she is to perceive this as a threat against either her person or her nation. Eccaia stumbles through a reply, Awon steps up and apologizes for the misunderstanding, insisting that it was done as a precautionary security measure. Greta insists he apologize to Skai before departing.   Dinner is called. The small talk at the main table is limited. Tuisan attempts to begin a conversation with King Elric and fails. Niven briefly speaks with Greta. At the bodyguard's table, there are shenaningans between Awon and Skai. Torin questions the lack of guards for the Rouyennese and Bergians and it is pointed out that the presence of bodyguards is nothing but a futile gesture given that there are ancient dragons in the room. Lenna thinks she could take them.   After dinner, the bodyguards decide to go for a barcrawl through town, led by Torin. Eccaia joins them, offering her drugs.

1st of Brightfire, 406 P.A.

Niven and Tuisan wake early and conspire…   The party heads to The Overwatch at dawn. Their weapons and familiars are stored and they are told that there is no magic allowed upstairs. The party shares a recession room with the Praiwindish and Raavan.   The negotiations last all morning, with both sides slowly relinquishing their demands, but never enough to please the other side. There is a brief break for lunch and then the visiting dignitaries are given the opportunity to voice their opinions. All decline except Tuisan, who speaks up for a long and lasting peace.   The negotiations continue toward evening, Rouyenne beginning to cede less and less with each subsequent offer. After whispered conversations from Twoscar and Nuzduld, King Elric stands, interrupting Lioth. He declares that there will be no peace until there were "no more dragons plaguing this continent, and it begins with the elimination of the great wyrms." He, the queen, and their general walk out as an arcane wave blasts everyone remaining in the room. A few people stumble back, but the dragonborn fall to their knees and the dragons fall unconscious.   Nuzduld quickly follows the King and Queen out. Twoscar remains, summoning a demon and giving it instructions in abyssal. The Praiwindish and Raava vanish into the shadows. The Islans flee. Sturvick captures the demon in a force bubble and instructs the party to get the Kings to safety. Tuisan manages to bring them to consciousness, but they seem dazed and incapacitated. Sturvick says that he can get them all out if they can buy him ten minutes.   The party keeps Twoscar sufficiently occupied, even managing to knock her unconscious. Prei and Torin return to help and Prei evacuates the Kings, Dragonborn, and Sturvick. After a number of counterspells, Twoscar flees.   The party regroups and Torin leads them to the Temple of the Tides. There they find the Bergian party in a particularly somber mood. They relate that they have just received news that during the talks, the Rouyennese forces attacked the wall. With their overwhelming numbers they would have succeeded, but Teigan defended the wall himself, securing the border at the cost of his own life. If that isn't enough bad news, whatever arcana blasted through the room has stripped the Kings of their draconic essence; They are now nothing more than a human warrior and magic-less elven woman.   The Kings wish to return to Varcrast to call a Dragon Mote to elect new Kings and a new Copper Lord.
