Rohan King
The title given upon the ruler of the Rohan province and kingdom.
Origin
The last Rohan Jarl, Lysandus Petunia, defended his land from the Scarlet Legion who murdered his father and invaded the land. He walked the streets calling upon anyone who would follow him, by dawn he amassed an army of 6,581. With his army and skills as a general took back his land, forcing the Shesire Sovereignty into surrender as their Scarlet Legion fled. This gave him the chance to give his province the independence they desired by signing the Treaty of Rohan's Independence and creating the title of the Rohan King.Duties & Benefits
They are responsible for maintaining order for the residents of the country by directing the flow of trade, resources and military. Although they often hand down the maintenance of these aspects to generals, scholars, Barons and Hirds in order to allow for a smoother system of operation. Like the Jarls before they are guided by a Shaman who with the aid of oracles and communication with the spirit world can suggest a course of action for the King. The Shaman typically stays within the King's castle, although a few have elected to live out in the wilderness closer to the source of the nature spirits. The king has a loyal army sworn by oath to the higher spirits to serve the specific king with loyalty, the knights however do not transfer to the heir once they become king, rather they remain loyal to the previous King unless the new King knights them. These members act as the King's personal Agents, Knights, Guards and Medics to serve in important and/or secretive operations. These soldiers are elected by the King personally making them a lot less common than the average soldier, but exceptionally loyal. Additionally soldiers, hunters mercenaries or combat-based professions are obligated to help the king during times of need.Requirements
The ranking of Jarl is hereditary passing from the previous parent to their first born.
Gender is irrelevant to the line of succession, however it is unlikely for individuals who are intersex or have an androgynous consciousness to gain the throne on account of the Shesire Sovereignty's witch hunts.
If a king dies and doesn't have suitable heirs it is common for
the shamans emerge and elect an heir by sending them on a pilgrimage to test their worth.
