War of Broken Vows

The War of Broken Vows, with it, alternatively called the Dalkaring Tepi Ghuvak translated directly to "Broken Letter War". The exact origins of the war are debated, but what is clearly known is it was started by two divorced monarchs, Ituvak Sangsivsaluil and Arsa Sangsivsaluil, fighting for the supreme rule of their country. The war in total lasted 5 years but left permanent scars on the land.   The war between them was titled in the favour of Ituvak for he was by birth given the position of power giving him the most direct access to military mages and weapons. However the odds were placed against Arsa, she carried motivation and passion giving her people hope. A rather small squad deployed by the Lord of Saluildungpi, Fadung eventually was the deciding factor in killing Ituvak.

The Conflict

Prelude

Some sources say that Arsa after being away on a long voyage arrived a few days early and walked in on her husband being disloyal with one of the castle maids, causing Arsa in her flustered state to attack him with a dining knife, only for her attempt to fail. She received a scar from the fight, but not long after she fled to the city of Saluildungpi and begin the war.   There are documents claiming Ituvak said that on the trip Arsa was taking she was frolicking with the Lord of Saluildungpi, Fadung, and with her being upset with the king's impotence she sought to replace him. Leading her to attempt to assassinate him, and take the throne for herself alongside Fadung. The biggest suggestion thinking this is true is that only a week after the war officially began she started dating Fadung.   While some scholars have theorized it was actually Fadung pulling the strings behind the scene to get with the woman he loved. He supposedly achieved this by hiring a prostitute to make advances on Ituvak, and placing a spell upon Arsa so that once she witnessed the scene her better judgement would be suppressed allowing only her rage to appear. However this is only theorized and has very little evidence to support this, with the only piece being an unsent letter by Fadung expressing his hidden love for her.

Outcome

A heavy decline in the economy and work force with food being rationed out for weeks after.

Aftermath

The result of the war was the recognition of two capitals, Saluildungpi and Plufvura (original capital) with each containing one of the future kings.   The forest that used to divide the land was turned into whats now referred to as the Mud Pits, a place where if you ever walk off the path you may end up dying from an undiscovered weapon of war. The land would slowly start to regrow, but never in the same beauty as it once was.

As sad as it is, I can appreciate that an entire war is built on the relationship problems between two people. That's how some of these things start and spiral out to have huge repercussions for the world around them. Makes me feel bad for the world at large.

I wanted it to be something simpler compared to my previous written wars. Something more grounded, but having some of the most extreme effects on the world. There is a weird beauty in it <3
