Widows Port
Widows port, previously founded under the name of Queens port, is found on the tip of the known world before the free pirate infested waters of the Slande Archipelago begin.
Nestled within its harbour, Widows Port serves a dual purpose—a modest trading outpost for the neighbouring empires and a haven for a notorious band of pirates poised to unleash havoc upon the neighbouring seas. Within the bay's confines, a tenuous treaty forces these two contrasting factions to maintain an uneasy civility, marked by a set of buoys adorned in the vibrant colours of the port.
Within the bustling confines of the port, a delicate dance unfolds. Traders, merchants, and diplomats weave through the narrow streets, their presence a testament to the commerce that persists despite the looming shadow of piracy. Alongside them, pirates, with their eyes gleaming with mischief, make final preparations before embarking on perilous voyages to plunder the neighbouring seas.
Government
The government is barely held within this region, having two separate institutions of law, the original highly corrupt governor making all the decisions.
While stationed outside the settlement an hour's travel is an outpost of the emperor to make sure the governor remains loyal and does what they are instructed to do.
History
The establishment of this fragile accord can be attributed to the infamous pirate widow, Rose Sunder, whose audacious exploits are whispered in both awe and trepidation. With her fleet of 21 ships, she single-handedly subdued the mighty empire, effectively severing all trade routes along the east coast. Rose Sunder's daring conquest reshaped the balance of power and set the stage for Widows Port's unique duality.
The treaty, anchored in the bay's boundaries, serves as a constant reminder of the delicate truce maintained between the factions. It is an uneasy alliance, where the exchange of goods coexists with the threat of violence. Yet, the port thrives in a vibrant and chaotic tapestry where fortune and danger intermingle.
Tourism
The sight mostly collects swashbucklers from or heading to the Slande Archipelago, but also occasionally sees merchants looking for a cheap voyage through the free seas looking to make it big.
