Bubonians
Bubonians are a species of humanoid amphibians with many resemblances to common toads. They live in anarchist settlements around lake Taytam and have an affinity for water magic.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Bubonians range from 1,60 - 2,20 meters in height and weigh 60 - 150 kg, depending on subspecies: warty bubonians usually make up the heaviest and largest individuals, while slick bubonians are on the lighter and smaller side. As amphibians, they can breathe through their skin, which can be of various colorations. This also depends on the subspecies: warty specimen tend to possess muted skin colors whereas slick ones appear in bright, aggressive colors. Bubonian fingers and toes are webbed, with strong limbs that make them naturally good jumpers. Their mouths are wide, with long tongues and an air sack to produce sounds with.
Genetics and Reproduction
Bubonians are ovuliparous, meaning that they lay eggs in water and rely on external fertilization. Gestation period depends on environmental temperature, but usually takes around half a year until metamorphlings go on land.
Growth Rate & Stages
Fertilized eggs will develop into tadpoles and start developing legs at around six months, making them toddlers. They are considered adolescent at the age of eight. Physical maturity is reached at fifteen, and are considered adult from then on. Bubonians usually live up to 70 years.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bubonians largely feed off off insects and seafood, which they produce with expertise.
