Elves
Elves are a magical people of otherworldly grace, living in the waking world but seeming not entirely part of it. They live in places of ethereal beauty, most of them in the midst of Vala Amíl, a tropical rainforest that makes up their homeland. Elves traditionally love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world.
Basic Information
Anatomy
With their unearthly grace and fine features, elves appear hauntingly beautiful to humans and members of many other races. They are slightly shorter than humans on average, ranging from 1.70 - 2.20 m. They are more slender than humans, weighing only 50-70 kg. Males and females are about the same height, and males are only
marginally heavier than females. Elves’ coloration encom passes the normal human range and also includes skin in shades of copper, bronze, and almost bluish-white, hair of green or blue, and eyes like pools of liquid gold or silver. Elves have no facial and little body hair.
Genetics and Reproduction
Elves practice coital reproduction much like humans, although their gestation period is much longer at 5 years.
Growth Rate & Stages
Elves mature significantly slower than humans, becoming full grown at around 50 years of age. They reach sexual maturity upon declaring themselves adult, which usually happens at around 100 years of age.
Ecology and Habitats
Wherever elves would settle down, they require a wide network of flora and fauna in order to thrive. They behave symbiotic with every species in their biome, and in Methera, this mostly has them drawn toward the depths of Vala Amíl - the green hell.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Elves eat mostly herbivorous, save for the occasions in which an elf dies - it is consumed by those who spent their last moments with them.
Biological Cycle
Elves do not fall asleep, but instead enter a trance which leaves them semiconscious.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Small communes which are well interconnected. Led by an aristocratic clerus.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Attuned to magic, elves are more sensitive to arcane traces in their surroundings, giving them advantage in the defense against some magic spells. They also benefit from superior vision in dark and dim environments, as well as otherwise keen senses.
