Karayven

Karayven are natives and/or inhabitants of the Mamosyan Empire, and more broadly those who are of Karayven descent. On a geographic level, Karayven culture is shaped by the warm and dry climate, encouraging the formation of settlements around large bodies of water, thus developing a big focus on river and naval lifestyles. During the first and second expansion, discussions on the parameters of Karayven ethnicity were largely determined as human(oid) phenotypes and the ability to comprehend and speak the Common language, Karayv. The estimated total numbers of Karayven people range 15-18 milion, making up about 20% of Metheras population with most Karayven people living in Mamosya. The history of Karayven as an ethnic and cultural group began with the great unification of multiple smaller human city-states and self governed regions in 0 CR, the same Chrona in which the Current Reckoning was implemented. Thus, the Kingdom of Mamosya was formed. It grew substantially in power and population during the following decades, then expanding eastward along Urok's Grace after their so-named patron God ended the Divine Battle of Divergence. Following this process, oft quoted as the First Expansion (ca. 15-55 CR), worship of Urok was at an all-time high. Karayven society prospered, experiencing a large boom in arcane scientific breakthroughs, which were accredited due to Urok's doing - but there were also arcanists who doubted the necessity of divine influence in magic. A series of trials and executions for arcane practices, which were deemed Heresy to the Worship of the Sun, led to many arcane practitioners emigrating Mamosya in the years 86-92 CR). In turn, this solidified the reliance on divine magic in Karayven culture. The growing needs of a thriving society led to continued claiming of new territory: further eastward, new nobility created estates in former Szecelia, in many cases integrating previously independent human states - thus forming the Mamosyan Empire in 169 CR. This series of events is known as the Second Expansion.
