Raised by a renowned fighter father (Hugh) and a brilliant wizard mother (Wym), Vaerian grew up surrounded by high expectations. His father instilled in him the discipline of combat, while his mother insisted that he pursue arcane studies at a prestigious wizard college. Despite excelling in neither area at first, Vaerian discovered an unexpected love for dance as an extracurricular activity. It became his escape from the pressures of his double life, and soon, he began weaving dance into his combat training.
To his parents' disapproval, Vaerian embraced dance not only as a passion but as a tool in combat. He found his true calling in the Bladesinger tradition, a rare school of magic that allowed him to merge swordsmanship with arcane power, all through the graceful motions of his dance.
Upon graduating, however, Vaerian was met with the harsh reality of student debt. Though he tried to pay it off by performing in taverns and theaters, or taking on odd jobs, the money simply wasn’t enough. Still, the allure of the stage remained strong, and he continued to dance wherever he could, though it rarely paid more than a handful of coins.
Now, adventuring has become the most viable path for him to earn the gold he needs. The potential for large rewards from dangerous quests has proven too tempting to resist. So, with debt collectors looming and a blade in hand, Vaerian is ready to venture forth, driven less by the desire for glory and more by the need to pay off his wizard college loans and finally gain financial freedom.
