Frostmaiden

The Frostmaiden is the main deity of Icewind Dale. Being the goddess of ice and preservation of beauty, she is known to be particularly cruel and unfeeling, even towards her own believers and champions. To appease her wrath and make her more merciful, the cities of Ten-Towns give her monthly sacrifices at each New Moon, whether it be food, gold or actual people. Some extremist cults of the Frostmaiden also sacrifice people with special gifts or boons that aren't used in her favour or that go against her edicts.
Some say that the ones she deems worthy and that survive her deadly trials can be gifted special powers to help them spread her ways.
She often blesses the creatures roaming her land, giving them intelligence and using them as avatars that she can see through. She is also known to be a patient deity that waits for people to die in the cold before claiming them and controlling their frozen corpses.
