Alteration Spheres
Within exist an Echo of Existence Itself
General
Alteration Spheres is a rather tricky subject. But I will do my best to explain what they are. It is debatable if they are something that has come to be naturally or were intentionally made to be by Architect Himself.
Nature of Alterations
But first I should give some context.
Whenever you make a choice in one of the Nexus Worlds, the prospect of what an alternate choice would be, create Alteration Energy that manifests itself as an Alteration. A variant of a World where you choose to let the thief escape, rather than stopping them.
This has resulted in thousands upon thousands of Alterations of the Nexus Worlds, of which only a few rare ones are well-known within Alézun’Teran, such as Miand’Més Kreig or Mésvéstell Jothamé. Some could not be more different even if they wanted to, and for others, you could spend several lifetimes walking around, living, without noticing even a single difference.
Alterations in Alézun'Teran
However, Alézun’Teran does not have Alterations. At least, not ones that can be visited.
Instead, every choice one makes in Alézun’Teran is converted into Alteration Energy that manifests into peculiar Spheres, most of which are the size of an apple. Few does so out in the wild, so to say, nearby wherever a choice was made. The vast majority manifests within the Grave, possibly one of the most restricted and mythical Realms in all of Alézun’Teran. They are overseen by an entity who goes by the same name, though little else is known about it.
Understanding what it entails
One might not understand it at first, but each Alteration Sphere contains the essences and energies of all Realms, Entities, and Beings within Alézun’Teran. This includes the Realms of the Great Archive , City of Concord, and the Caverns of Void, along with Entities such as the Archivist, Guardian Himself, and all Deities and Angels. It is even possible the Nexus Worlds and every single one of their Alterations exists within one as well. In short terms, a copy of Existence Itself exists within something no bigger than an apple and one that weighs only marginally more. The energy within is enough to render more than one realm asunder in the blink of an eye, though as far as anyone knows, it has never occurred. And an unbelievable number of them are supposedly within the Grave. I do not even want to ponder on what such a store of tremendous energy could do if it was ever unleashed.
Appearance
In appearance, they appear as glass balls containing swirling white mists that occasionally pulsate slowly with crimson and blue-white colors.
A fascinating concept! I also like how the article is made of excerpts from a document on the topic.
