Krauskyskull

They achieved immortality... at a heavy cost.

Few monstrosities fill me with such dread as the hideous Krauskyskull. Created not naturally, they are instead the brainchildren and creations of an ancient sectarian order of necromancers who called themselves The Helienites. From what I have been able to understand, there is a huge possibility that these draugr are actually the result of attempted immortality.
In a sense, they were successful, but the cost -- most likely -- outweighed the result.   I hope the knowledge about their creation stays forgotten. Because the possibility of someone finding the knowledge to create more of these monstrosities fills me with dread.   19th day of the month Aavest, in the year of 1582 - Prophet's Dynasty.

Intelligence

Unlike most draugr species, the Krauskyskull seems to be a lot closer to the intelligence level of a human. It may not appear to be so surprising if my suspicions are correct, but draugr generally do not keep their humanity, nor high levels of intelligence after they have been turned, for reasons that are still speculative.
But the Krauskyskull is different. The stories and legends paint a picture of a monster that is highly intelligent and deceptive, with a dangerously high strategic mindset. One that more often than not savor ambushes and uses dirty tricks to come out as the winner in a fight.   20th day of the month Aavest, in the year of 1582 - Prophet's Dynasty.

Appearance

The following information was written in a dusty diary, found near the skeletal remains of what is believed to be an adventurer, based on the outfit and equipment near it. The skull and left arm had been ripped off by brute force, but only the arm was found near the remains. The location of the poor sod was relatively deep inside an ancient ruin, half-swallowed by the sand dunes of Aaermakh.

Found an old ruin that must have been uncovered in the latest sandstorm. The architecture is near reminiscent of the buildings found in Sausea so it seems my luck is holding. Something has me worried though. On several of the stonewalls, I have found rather deep gouges that reminds me of claw marks, and I do not wish to meet whatever made those.   I think laying out a few traps would not hurt. Just to be on the safe side of things.   1th day of the month Sabíon, in the year of 1548 - Prophet's Dynasty.

I have continued to explore the ruin during the better part of a few hours, but have not found much of note. I am not sure if this all will be worthwhile and I do not wish to be buried underneath the desert. Luckily, that hasn't happened yet as the wind from outside has created a few disturbing sounds that kinda reminds me of mad laughter and mumbling, echoing voices. Damn wind.   I will take a rest and then continue to explore for a few more hours. If I haven't found anything worth my time, then I will take my leave. If nothing else, it has been an interesting find.   2th day of the month Sabíon, in the year of 1548 - Prophet's Dynasty.

I am not sure what I saw. Most likely, it was the shadows playing a trick on my imagination. The damn wind and the gauges in the stonework has put me on edge. That is probably all. But I think I need to write it down, just to be sure.   The first thing that caught my attention was what looked like a heap of dark cloth, that seemed to wave in the wind. When I got closer, it reminded me more about an abnormally large cowl, just like the type certain priests and monks use. It looked like it was floating above the stone floor, but before I could truly see what it was, it, and I am sure about this, flew away and disappeared into the shadows of the corridors.   I should probably just take another quick rest and then return to the surface. The old air in this ruin is going to my head. But one thing that has come to me, is that the dark cloth looked like it was rippling in the wind like the surface of a lake a windy day does. And another thing, but this is most likely just my imagination; the dark cloth looked more like dark red then black dark.   3th day of the month Sabíon, in the year of 1548 - Prophet's Dynasty.

Damn nightmares. Everything that I have seen and heard since I entered this ruin has definitely gone to my head. I dreamt that I woke up from a dreamless sleep, I looked around and saw it staring back at me from around the corner. The thing that wore that dark, floating cowl. Its fleshless skull was nearly the same color as the shadows, but with a more reddish tint, and its eyes gleamed like distant stars. It also had freakishly long arms that ended with sharp, lengthy black claws. It gave off a cackling laugh, and then I woke up for real. But this time, I haven't seen anything.   But this was it. I'll leave this ruin today. There is nothing here anyway.   3th day of the month Sabíon, in the year of 1548 - Prophet's Dynasty.
