Aetheric Guild
The Aetheric Guild specialises in installing and maintaining aetheric wiring systems within buildings. Transitioning from an all-Magi workforce during The Age of Enlightenment, the guild has diversified, integrating humans and Nightwalkers into their ranks alongside a significant portion of enslaved labourers. Today, the guild focuses on the practical application of aetheric energy, streamlining the process to ensure efficient aetheric flow in public and private infrastructures.
Structure
The Aetheric Guild hierarchy includes the Magi, nightwalkers, humans, and slaves. The Magi lead with expertise, nightwalkers research and develop, humans manage operations, and slaves carry out manual work. This system ensures efficiency and leverages each group's strengths.
Culture
The Aetheric Guild values practical outcomes over traditions and ceremonies. Members work hard to enhance and maintain Favont's aetheric infrastructure. There is a strong sense of camaraderie and a relentless pursuit of improvement in aetheric technologies.
Public Agenda
Publicly, the Aetheric Guild's agenda is to ensure the reliable provision and maintenance of aetheric systems across Favont. It aims to continuously improve the efficiency and safety of these systems, aiming for all customers to receive the best care and service in their homes and workplaces. There is a push for aetheric systems to manage greater amounts of energy as the needs of the populace and the output of the National Aetheric Grid increase.
Assets
Across Favont, the guild possess anumber of buildings which are key to its operations. This includes:
- The Atheric Guild Central in Northpass where top tier meetings are conducted. There is also an Atheric Guild house in most major cities across Favont, which hold annual events and training for members.
- Manufacturing factories for atheric systems in Farn, Barncombe, and Lantyan. These factories produce aetheric wiring products for use by the guild and the public.
- The Aetheric Guild research facility is based in Carne on the border of The Stiriphese and Northarch. The facility is mostly populated by Nightwalkers.
History
The guild, established in the year 59, is one of the oldest in Favont. In its early days, it was exclusively comprised of Magi members whose mission was to safeguard aetheric magic from lesser castes. They set up aetheric systems in Magi houses, and in the event that a house was ever sold or destroyed, the system was removed.
During The Age of Enlightenment in the 8th century, the Magi reached a consensus that it would be more advantageous to employ humans to manufacture their magical instruments instead of continuing to make their own and keeping them to themselves. The aetheric guild developed machinery and tools that enabled humans to work with aether and trained them in the installation of aether systems, eliminating the requirement that they must only exist in Magi households.
Before The Reconstruction, the guild bought serfs from farms to fill less technical roles, but after The Reconstruction, they increased the number of slaves, with most of them working in factories, while those who were more technically gifted undertook installation work or assisted humans in installations.
