Oderic
A young man from Stonyford, Oderic's family were killed by outlaws when he was but a small child. He was fostered by an ageing warrior named Helmgut, while he cared for the boy, more and more he fell into alcoholism and depression and was unable to give the love and support that Oderic so desperately needed. Oderic was however very close with his foster sister Brunhild, the two of them were inseparable all through their childhood into their young adult lives.
Oderic had no love for his foster sister's husband to be (Rathfic) for he never treated her with the respect he thought she deserved and while cared greatly for Brunhild he stayed his tongue out of respect. That is until one fateful day after witnessing Rathfic striking his foster sister his brotherly instincts kicked in, he confronted Rathfic and after a heated argument a fight broke out between the two men. Backed into a corner Oderic defended himself without thought and next he knew, Rathfic lay dead upon the floor, a knife sticking from his chest. At which point Helmgut found the aftermath of the fight, Oderic in shock at what had happened surrendered himself immediately and his foster father sent him north to the Beorning's to face trial at the Carrock.
Before his trial, the boat he was on was attacked by a party of Orcs, he was able to escape and fled south towards the Wolfswood. He was captured by Valter's men and after telling them his story and bargaining for his life reluctantly joined his group in order to save his own life. Valter was no fool, he saw the young man's frustration at his miss-treatment and his distrust of the Beornings, Valter planned to twist this into a hatred and to use his knowledge of the lands to his advantage.
When a band of strangers entered the camp claiming to want to "rescue" him, Oderic was at first confused, but hearing of how his foster sister had never given up on him, that she still believed in his innocence and that she was deeply worried for her brother, Oderic vowed to aid the party in leading Valter's forces into a trap. Rather than marching towards the bridge under Beorn's control, Oderic along with a disguised Arnvid, instead led the host of men towards of Stonyford where an ambush had been set for them.
In the end it was by Oderic's own hand that Valter died, the very man who offered him friendship when he had nothing left in this world. Seeing within him the regret at his actions and the redemption in his valiant acts of heroism. Beorn was convinced by the party to spare his life. He now lives with the Beorning's, working to repay his debt to them and finding his place as a young warrior under their tutelage and guidance.
