The Hildinolë
A society, dedicated to the "useful study of
magic" and was founded by none other than Malbeth the
Seer. It includes members as
important as Queen Liriel of Arthedain, Lady Finduilas III, and the entire council of Seers. Its members, who are accumulating
magical knowledge primarily to battle the threat of the
Witch-king, do not speak of their fellowship, but each
carries a distinctive symbol: the Sefthane. This emblem is
a decorative stick bearing a white gem at the top. They
possess varying magical powers, both offensive and defensive,
but always act as a light source and provide some
form of detection magic. Members of the Hildinolë are
not uniformly of high rank, but all members must be
recommended by someone of importance.
