House Faerdor
House Faerdor (S."Feotar") was the ruling noble family of northeastern Cardolan. Descendants of early Edain of Cardolan, they ruled large parts of the South Downs and the Mitheithel valley. The principality of Feotar consisted of the lands between the
Anthiel (S. "Long Well") and the Nen-i-Sûl. Feotar nominally rules most of the South Downs,
but these have been leased to the Barrow Lords of Tyrn Gorthad.
It was a fairly prosperous province, the former Princes
obtained their wealth from their involvement in shipping. The
Princes were reasonably considerate of their subjects, but notorious for their ambitions. Feotar "won" the civil war that followed
the death of Queen Nirnadel, but did not obtain the crown. The
third Canotar of Cardolan, Gaertil the Bad, was a lunatic
whose worst terrors were reserved for his homeland. Gaertil
assassinated or exiled virtually all of his minor nobles and his own
family before his bodyguard grew so disgusted that they slew both
him and his heir. Distant relatives from Annuminas have now come to maintain the 50 odd miles of House Faerdor land that remains civilized.
