House Lómëar
House Lómëar (Q. Lómë; meaning "night" or "gloom" in Quenya) was a noble house of Arthedain, known for its ancient lineage and connection to the shadowed and mysterious regions of the kingdom. The seat of House Lómëar was situated in the western reaches of Arthedain, near the North Downs, a region characterized by rolling hills, dense forests, and hidden valleys.
Location of House Lómëar
House Lómëar was nestled in a secluded area known as the Vale of Gloom (Quenya: Nan Lómë), a deep and shadowed valley nestled between the North Downs and the northernmost edges of the Weather Hills. This vale was remote and somewhat isolated, shrouded in mists and known for its dark, dense woodlands. The region’s natural shadow and the pervasive mist that clung to the hillsides gave it a somber, almost otherworldly atmosphere, fitting for a house whose name means "gloom."
The seat of House Lómëar was Lómëost, a fortress built into the rocky slopes of the vale, its dark stone walls blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Lómëost was a place of great age, its foundations laid down in the early days of Arnor. The fortress, with its tall, brooding towers and narrow windows, was designed more for defense and seclusion than for comfort or grandeur. It was said that the halls of Lómëost were lit only by flickering torches.
