Plasmoid

Plasmoids are amorphous beings with no typical shape. In the presence of other folk, they often adopt a similar form, but there’s little chance of mistaking a plasmoid for anything else. They consume food by osmosis, the way an amoeba does, and excrete waste through tiny pores. They breathe by absorbing oxygen through another set of pores, and their limbs are strong and flexible enough to grasp and manipulate weapons and tools. Although most plasmoids are translucent gray, they can alter their color and translucence by absorbing dyes through their pores. Plasmoids don’t have internal organs of the usual sort. Their bodies are composed of cells, fibers, plasma-like ooze, and clusters of nerves called ganglia. These nerves enable a plasmoid to detect light, heat, texture, sound, pain, and vibrations. Plasmoids can stiffen the outer layers of their bodies to maintain a human like shape, so they can wear clothing and accessories. They speak by forcing air out of tubular cavities that constrict to produce sound. When plasmoids sleep, they lose their rigidity and spread out and are sometimes mistaken for a rock or some other feature of the environment.

Plasmoid

Your plasmoid character has certain characteristics in common with all other plasmoids.
  • Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.
  • Creature Type. You are an ooze.
  • Age. Plasmoids are born as a puddle of ooze that gradually takes shape into a small humanoid. As you consume, you grow, reaching full size and adult intelligence in a few years. Plasmoids can live indefinitely once they reach adulthood, as long as they regularly consume organic matter.
  • Alignment. Plasmoid communities tend to value upholding the respect and dignity of their members. As such, they tend toward goodness.
  • Size. As a plasmoid the more you eat the larger you get and the longer you go without eating the smaller you get, to an extent. Upon a long rest you may choose to increase or decrease your size category by one, minimum small and maximum large. If you are Large, you still treat yourself as being medium as your gelatinous body isn't that strong. Whenever you gain a level of exhaustion or go a full day without eating, you decrease your size category by one.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
  • Ancestral Memory. Thanks to being a clone of your parent, some of their knowledge has been passed down to you. You have proficiency in History checks.
  • Ooze Nature. Like oozes, plasmoids do not require sleep. When you take a long rest, you must spend at least four hours in a motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you retain your shape, but appear inert. You are not unconscious and can perceive normally. Additionally you eat food by dissolving organic matter inside you, you do not require water, and you can hold your breath for 1 hour.
  • Blindsight. You have blindsight, along with your normal vision, up to 10 ft.
  • Spider Climb. Your skin is ochre and tacky. You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. In addition you can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free.
  • Amorphous. You can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide, provided you are wearing and carrying nothing. You also have advantage on ability checks you make to initiate or escape a grapple. If you are not incapacitated, you can reshape your body to give yourself a head, one or two arms, one or two legs, and makeshift hands and feet, or you can revert to a limbless blob (no action required). Thanks to your amorphous body you can move through the space of any hostile creature but cannot end your turn in their space. As a bonus action, you can extrude a pseudopod that is up to 6 inches wide and 10 feet long or reabsorb it into your body. You can use this pseudopod to manipulate an object, open an unlocked door or container, stow or retrieve an item from an open container, or pour out the contents of a container. The pseudopod can’t attack, activate magic items, or carry more than 10 pounds.
  • Corrosive Body. Thanks to your corrosive body, you have resistance to acid damage and your unarmed attacks deal 1d4 + Strength modifier Acid damage. You can choose when and what part of your body becomes acidic and can melt small objects such as locks easily.
