Reed Tribe

...Scouts of Ford tribe have spent two days encroaching upon the territory of Reed tribe. The three brave females were selected for their great hearing and trap-making skills in hopes of capturing a dragon of the rival tribe and hear out their secrets. The first of them died to food poisoning, despite the three of them eating the same rations. Second one drowned, yet her companion didn't hear anything. The last one escaped, but her spirit was broken. She told them she is supposed to deliver a message and that they are welcome to visit, but only without weapons...

Structure

Similarly to the organization of any other Mud dragon tribe, it is presided over by a Matriarch, yet compared to them she only serves a function of a diplomat and representative of the Tribe.   Who currently guides the tribe's activities is a closely guarded secret, but said individual or group is only referred to as Dealer.

Public Agenda

Anyone that passes their rigorous testing and rites of passage is allowed to join the Tribe, but those that fail are never allowed to leave. They can stay and help out the Tribe with other tasks, but only trained Scouts are given partial freedom to leave and re-enter at will.   Reed tribe assassins rarely work on tasks of their own agenda but when they do, it is done in such a way that it would be characterized as a suicide or accident.   In vast majority of cases, Reed tribe Scouts accept contracts from other tribes, organizations, or individuals in exchange for hefty sum of gems.

Assets

No doubt the greatest asset of Reed tribe is their secrecy. They don't wear any special clothing, accessories or tattoos to blend in with their environment. Each newly accepted member is also given a codename and shown a subtle gesture that two Reed tribe assassins can use to indentify one another.

History

The river along which the tribe resides has been named after a male dragon of legends whose family and subjects were murdered by his neighbouring tribe of unknown name. Thankfully, he survived and set out on a path of revenge. Despite all odds, with the use of his cunning and the river's shallow waters he was able to hide his small form under the water's surface and amongst the reeds, something that the much bigger female dragons didn't anticipate and as such, he was never discovered. Night after night he snuck out and his enemies found nothing but corpses of their fellows. Eventually, the rest of them either fled or started accusing and fighting amongst each other. Thorn's revenge fulfilled, the dragon felt like he found his calling and started a new tribe, and named it after the reeds that helped mask his form.   Currently, its members are renown assassins, spies and scouts. Information is their greatest export and they have many followers and informants hidden amongst nearly all the other tribes.

Demography and Population

Mud dragons 80%, Hybrids, 16%, others 4%

Foreign Relations

Reed tribe is generally attempting to remain as neutral towards any conflict as possible. They are willing to deal with both sides of a war if it suits them, yet this neutrality also means that no other tribe is willing to ally with them and would much rather see them destroyed rather than not.

Male population

Contrary to other Mud dragon tribes, Reed has a respectable number of males forming its population, estimated around 40%, this is due to the fact that some of these dragons came from other tribes or were born as hybrids. Female Mud dragon Scouts are rare due to their size being a great hindrance.
