Chance Encounters - Session 1

General Summary

A party of virtual strangers found themselves bound to posts by orcs, destined to find a similar fate in fire. Working together, they were able to break free and slay their orcish captors. In digging through the belongings of less fortunate prisoners, they found a letter detailing a job in Port Avis. Taking the letter, they began the trek towards the city. 
Upon arrival, they briefly browsed the city streets. The letter they had acquired stated that the adventurers who took the job were to visit Lord Veyus at the recommendation of an Admiral Shar. Lord Veyus was to be married the following day, and the men accepted their quest as bodyguards for Lady Shar. 

They acquired some more appropriate clothing and headed towards the towering cathedral that stood high above the rest of Port Avis. During the wedding, things took a turn for the worst. Bandits broke into the church and attempted to kidnap Lady Shar. The party fended them off thanks to some quick thinking and well placed attacks.
Lord Veyus instructed that the party find the man responsible for the attacks, a man Lady Shar revealed to be a former lover from war torn Ashheim.  The party also accepted work from Lord Viedryn, a lonely man who lived on the edge of town. They enjoyed a meal with Viedryn before setting forth on a quest to clear an old war bunker and acquire a rare herb from a town to the North.
