Creep Repellant

Creep Repellent is very effective. The only issue is that it also repells non-creeps as well.

The 1960s and 70s were a rough time in the history of the city of Midvillage. Crime rates were elevated and still rising. Car hi-jackings happened nearly every minute and break-ins were commonplace. The mayor's council had little to no control in some parts of the city. The biggest issue in the eyes of many people, however, were the kidnappings. Young women and children were in constant fear of being snatched up by human traffickers and predators. This led an old and retired chemist by the name of Mando Harris to get back into his field and begin thinking up a solution.

The Scientific Process

Mando was born in the city of Durmill Point, far south-east of Midvillage. He took a liking of mixing compounds and making explosions from a young age and flew through grade school as a top student. He earned a presigious scholarship to a university in Midvillage and moved there to pursue higher education. After gaining a degree, he took a high-paying job in the development of sanitization services. He began teaching at the same university he attended and was a wonderful teacher. He worked very hard until he retired in 1955 at the age of sixty-three. In the early to mid 60s, Mando Harris watched the news about all of the crime in his city. He was apalled but he did nothing. That was until one day, he read the newspaper and learned that one of his former students, a young woman was kidnapped and murdered by a group of human traffickers. The story greatly affected him, and as a scientist, he felt obliged to do something for the people. He had an idea and with some connections at the university, he was able to use a school lab for his testing. He paid several students to be test subjects for his product. His inpiration was from his past. In his years in the city, he observed that on buses and trains, people generally avoided sitting next to, or even going near people who smelled bad. That was how he had the idea of a perfume tht smelled so rancid and so awful that as soon as one of those creeps approached a person wearing it, they would begin gagging and avoid them at all costs. He began testing different combinations of chemicals that stunk, such as sulfur. Eventually he developed a final product. It smelled so horrible that anyone who even approached the wearer would feel light-headed and nauseous.

The Product's Performance

The product in a red spray can was an instant success. People began applying it when going out at night and rates of kidnapping went down to almost zero. There was an issue, though. To remove the scent, one needed to take a long and intense shower, using very odiferous soap. This made it very hard to go out and enjoy one's self at the bar or club, because it is hard to socialize when you smell like rotten eggs and skunk spray. Another unfortunate side affect was that the strong smell sometimes even knocked out passersby. In 1976, the council of Midvillage banned the spray, ruling that it qualifyed as a biological weapon. By this time, most of the perpetrators of the kidnappings were already apprehended and the crime rate was down again.
