Obsidimen

Obsidimen are a race whose very tissue is stone-like in appearance. Obsidimen are sexless, though they often adopt a gender; they are born of their Liferocks, large stone formations inhabited by powerful elemental earth spirits, and usually found in Mindosza’s wild areas, especially in mountainous regions. Obsidimen from the same Liferock call themselves a brotherhood and usually resemble each other and the Liferock in both coloration and texture of skin, as well as in spirit. Regularly, they travel home to meet with their Brotherhood and merge with the Liferock in communion.   While many who meet their first Obsidiman assume he is made of stone, Obsidimen are creatures of flesh and blood like any other, although they are quite resilient to the effects of weather and injury. They tend to be slow when approaching mundane matters, and the hastiness of some other races unsettles them, as they prefer to take their time and make careful decisions. Though when angered – which only regularly happens if someone insults their Liferock or threatens innocent life – the strong Obsidimen are a terror to behold.   Obsidimen are tall, reaching an average height of 7 feet 3 inches. Seen from a distance they seem squat, because their massive average weight of 900 pounds offsets their height. Their craggy skin and bodily tissue incorporate the properties of stone, and the most common coloration is black or grey. The skin of a few Obsidimen shows veins of semi-precious stone, such as tourmaline. Obsidimen are mostly hairless and have internal ears completely covered by a thin layer of skin. Their blood, unlike that of most ancestries, is a bluish grey.   Obsidimen mature over the first century of their life, which they spend attached to their Liferocks. During this time, the Obsidiman communes with the elemental spirit of his liferock and the other Obsidimen attached to it in a state called the Dreaming. After this learning period, they is given their Name, and are free to travel the land as they wish.
Obsidimen will return to their liferocks from time to time to share their experiences with their Brotherhoods. As they age, Obsidimen spend more and more time attached to their Liferocks; they may spend decades showing no sign of being aware of their surroundings, then emerge again in a time of crisis. The average Obsidiman has a lifespan of approximately nine hundred years, but many of an Obsidiman’s later centuries will be spent attached to their Liferock.   Most Obsidimen have spent the Convergence in their liferocks and are re-emerging slowly. To many Denizens, they are utterly alien, as they have not seen or maybe even heard of Obsidimen. A young Obsidimen might have been born during the Convergence in their liferock, not being able to venture out, whereas older Obsidimen may have memories of a time before the convergence and as a result maybe utterly bewildered by the current state of Mindosza. Either way, the Realms are foreign to all but a few Obsidimen, so they usually do not align to them, instead choosing a more neutral stance and have been used as mediators in disputes.

You might
• Perceive other ancestries as rushing through life, not taking the necessary time to appreciate things
• Have a deep connection to the earth and nature, valuing your connection to the liferock
• Be calm most of the time, able to appreciate all sides to a story. However acts against nature or your liferock will enrage you.
  Others probably
• Meet you with apprehension or fear, as you are utterly alien to them, at most known by children’s tales
• Quickly come to appreciate your calm, measured behaviour
• From time to time become frustrated with your …too…. calm, measured behaviour

Being born from fire, obsidian stone and you brotherhood is fire resistant equal to half your level (minimum 1), and you treat environmental heat effects as if they were one step less extreme (incredible heat becomes extreme, extreme heat becomes severe, and so on).   Dolomite Liferock Coming from dolomite stone, you are sturdily built, coming from one of the most durable rocks, you are well prepared for heavy duty work. You are trained in Athletics and gain the Hefty hauler feat. The color of your skin is most likely beige, leaning towards red, brown or sometimes silver.   Marble Liferock Not only do you share the immense weight of other obsidimen brothers, but your texture is almost eerily smooth. You are hard to grab and even harder to move around. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to any save DC against being grabbed or restrained, as well as being paralyzed from magical sources. Coming from marble stone, your bright skin-color might lean towards anthracite, blueish or green hues.   Conrasu heritages (reflavored): Rite of Invocation, Light and Reinforcement

Feats

Conrasu Feats as well as Oread and:   (1) Obsidimen Lore - You either lived a long life, maybe even before the convergence or absorbed the old stories and traditions of your ancestors, gods and people, studying in subjects and techniques passed down for generation upon generation. You gain the trained proficiency rank in Crafting and occultism. If you would automatically become trained in one of those skills (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in a skill of your choice. You also become trained in Obsidimen Lore.   (5) Bulky Form - Your large body gets in the way of your enemies. When you are between an ally and a foe and would provide lesser cover to your ally against the foe’s attacks, you twist to become even more obtrusive, providing standard cover instead.   (9) Like a rolling stone… - (2 Actions) You Stride up to double your Speed and can move through the spaces of creatures smaller or equal to you, Trampling each creature whose space you enter. You can attempt to Trample the same creature only once in a single use of Trample. You deal unarmed damage or that of your Body Control, but trampled creatures can attempt a basic Reflex save against your class DC.
