Genasi
Genasi are humanoids that have been touched by the elemental planes. Primarily they are touched by the planes of air, earth, fire, and water; however, there are genasi that are touched by the smaller less well-known elemental planes. The influence of the elemental planes happens in a variety of ways but mostly comes from being exposed to extreme amounts of elemental energy; living near a volcano may produce a fire or magma genasi for example. Pacts with elemental beings, traveling into the elemental planes, or living near a planar portal may also produce genasi in the individual or their offspring. Regions with high elemental energy have large communities of genasi. These communities may have once been another race but years of elemental exposure over the generations have transformed them all.
Genasi are considered highly connected to their respective elements. This influences their appearance but also their lifespans. A genasi living in an environment that is opposite to its type will have a shortened lifespan while living in a complimentary environment will lengthen their lifespan. For example, an air genasi living underground will have a shorter lifespan than one living on a mountain top. Genasi that are closer to the original influence of the planes in generation also live longer than those with more mixed blood.

Social Structure
Genasi see themselves as all being touched by the elemental planes, however, they do make hard distinctions between their elemental subraces. Generally, it is seen as improper for oppositional elements to be friends let alone have children together as it is believed they would shorten each other's lifespans.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Genasi appearance is based on their elemental heritage. Air genasi usually have medium grey to white skin and hair; earth genasi usually have brown or greenish skin and usually some sort of rock or mineral on their body; fire genasi usually have red or soot colored skin, with flame-like or red hair; water genasi usually have dark to light blue in skin and hair. These appearances do vary but usually either the skin or hair is notable.
