Ceremonial weapons of the Crienia

The ceremonial weapons of the Crienia is a collective term for the weapons given by both the groom and the bride during their wedding and while the weapons might be similar in shape and type the symbol they represent are different.   The weapon of the groom symbolises the wish to expand their family. The weapon that the bride gives to the groom is meant to symbolise the transfer of protection from her father to the groom.

History

How the ancestral weapons got into the hands of the respective families is as different as there are families, some of the weapons could be the first weapon a family member brought with them on one of the countless campaigns in the early history of the Crienia or it could be a beautiful weapon that caught the eye of the ancestor during the cleanup and looting process after a victorious battle.

How to obtain it

When the oldest child of a family is getting married, as part of the process the engaged couple will exchange their ancestral weapons as part of the Crienia marriage tradition

Effect on society

The exchange of weapons helps maintain a relatively high level of militarisation in the Dercian society but at the same time, it also helps the people connect with their ancestors by passing down their weapons to the next generation.

Affordability

The affordability of the weapons can vary from family to family, while the majority typically will from an outsider's perspective seem cheap with only minor decorations some are decorated with gold engravings and a silvered blade or even have gems in them but they all have that in common that for the families these weapons are priceless and for all families will likely be some of the most valuable they own.
