Galum
Galum is a dish served on one of the small islands of the coast of the Principality of Clifia. Among the locals of the island where it is served, it is regarded as a delicacy and is served on every occasion possible. but to the outsiders, to those merchants and sailors who visit the island for trade or to replenish their supplies, Galum is a dish that is avoided by those who know of it. Still, it's a common prank that the older sailors will trick a newbie into trying Galum much to the entertainment of the older guys.
Fooking hell, what the frack is that... thats not food, thats an aberration, its just wrong. The dish itself is nothing noteworthy going by the looks alone, it can best be described as greyish and thank the gods, almost without smell, which helps the older sailors in their pranks on the newbies. The dish itself is made out of some local fish that is said to live in and around the local reef where it is believed that it feeds on algae and other vegetation, depending on the size of the fish, it takes two to make a decent portion, alongside some seaweed, the seaweed is first boiled whereafter its swept around the fish and the two are then boiled together. According to the local stories, it was first made after a terrible storm had devastated their island and left them without much food or boats that they could use to saild to the mainland to trade. At first it had almost the same reception among hte locals as it have now with the outsiders but overtime it grew on the locals and they came to like it and it soon enough became the most common dish made on the island, it helps that the fish its made from is common around the island and stupid as a rock making it easy to catch.- Young sailer after the first bite of Galum
Hahah, I love the idea of people pranking the younger sailors with it, but I also love the fact that locals actually eat it.
