The Plebeian Marketplace
Pearlhal the hearth of the Empire of Dercia is the largest city in the Empire, home to countless people and within this city there are plenty of areas were merchants both locals and those from far what have come to sell their wares, one of these places are known to the locals as The Plebeian Marketplace, mostly due to it being mostly local farmers and fishermen that come to this market to sell their wares.
Despite the less-than-flattering name, it's a bustling hub of vibrant activity and communal commerce, flanked by modest but still colourful stalls and storefronts and hums with daily life's energy.
On good days the market will be bustling with crowds that mill about, engaging in lively exchanges with vendors and other people and during the day, the people might seek the centre of the square where a fountain adorned with marble sculptures depicting a local hero serves as a meeting place and likewise a place for respite as there are plenty of benches places around the fountain. Despite being placed in the centre of a bustling marketplace, the fountain still manages to provide a quiet sanctuary for the people.
Plenty of street performers will be playing instruments or weaving captivating tales that enthral passersby with their artistry, adding a whimsical charm to the marketplace's atmosphere.
In a hidden corner of the Plebeian Marketplace, there lies a forgotten alleyway that has peculiar symbols etched into the walls, a local legend whispers that those who decipher the markings may uncover a secret entrance leading to an ancient subterranean chamber that is said to hold relics of the past. However, no one has successfully deciphered the symbols, leaving the alleyway an intriguing mystery whispered about in hushed tones among the market's regulars.
