Yagorin

The Yagorin is this majestic, deer-like creature that is native to the forests of Dercia.   The creature is well known among the people of the Empire for its slender, graceful body with its shimmering fur that changes its colour with the seasons. The Yagorin does not lack in the defence department either, its hide is thick and able to protect it against most of the predators that can be found in the forests of Dercia, it also has a few features that can be used on the offensive should it be needed, like its tusks that can grow to a length of 10 centimetres, these are both used against predators but also against each other during the mating season.   Its habitat is the dense forests of the Empire where they are often spotted near the crystal clear lakes. farmers in remote villages sometimes spot them in the edges of the forest standing in the zone between the forest and where the fields begin.   The Yagorins hold a large cultural significance in the Dercian folklore, they are by many considered guardians of the forests and many say that they have been led back to civilisation when they got lost in the forests as kids.   Each year during harvest, there is a competition among the villagers to harvest the last piece bundle of wheat is then locked in the barn for a few days after having been chased through the village wearing a mask resembling the Yagorin, its believed that the tradition brings good luck to the village.   In the literature, they are often depicted as symbols of purity and natural beauty. There are legends about an enclave of elves that according to the stories were riding on the Yagorin when they moved between the different places where they put down camp.

They sound beautiful. I love the mythology around them, and the fact that they change colours with the seasons. The tradition sounds like fun too
