A race of dragon like people, the dragonborn were born for war alone.
They served Mara their creator god dutifully during the Divine Wars, but as they were sent further into more vicious and deadly combats the Dragonborn’s greatest general began to fear for his race. Leading a rebellion against his own God the Dragonborn slew her and buried her body deep into the Iron Mountain, allowing his name to be forgotten in the world. For a long time the Dragonborn kept to their mountain home, brutally destroying any that would dare trespass in their land, until the dwarves came to them with an offer of friendship.
The Dragonborn were still warlike and many wanted to fight this so called miners, but their King understanding the wisdom of why his ancestor betrayed their god in the first place instead challenged their leader to a series of competitions.
The events lasted for an entire week, the Dragonborn king eventually reigning as the winner, but so impressed was he by Dwarves resolve he agreed to let them join in their mountain empire. That is how the Dragonborn chose to remember it. The truth is far harsher.
When Mara was sealed into the mountain the dragonborn laid waste to the land in retreat along the way they claimed many members of the other races as slaves for which to dig for their fallen goddess.
In this way the land of Sintharia was founded and continued until the events that lead to the Sundering now the dragons are kings and queens in name only serving in councils with both dwarves and kobolds having equal say in the affairs of the land. Although there are some who long for the dragonborn heroes of old to return and begin a new age for dragonkind.
Regions: Their homeland is the land of Sintharia but like their larger namesakes dragonborn of certain colors tend to be found in particular lands.
