Leonin
During the events of the divine war Syrana Goddess of the moon, Xunos God of Wild , and Ova God of Beasts created the werelions to be their fangs and claws, to keep them safe, but they were not their only children. They created many other breeds of shapeshifters and gave them each a task. Some have lost their way with time choosing to claim one of the many moons as their God instead of the trinity of their creators as a whole. The Leonin, as they call themselves, firmly believe that they were created to rule their brethren.
When the Vrynn established themselves as rulers above all, three princes of the Leonin guided their people to their new destiny. The fiercest followed Amadu into the plains to carve a new kingdom for leonin kind, the smartest followed Mayi into the steppes and attuned themselves to the spirits of the land and the remaining followed Abuja, who ventured far to the south their story has fallen into history. The leonin ruled nearly undisputed in the southern lands for years growing in strength to rival the kingdoms of the vrynn. For the Leonin people it remains a source of great pride that their lands are one of the few to remain unconquered since its inception.
Regions: The homeland of the werelion people is the land of Foronis, this fertile land has served to make the leonin the lands top agricultural centres of Theros. They can also be found in the land of as farmers and merchants alike.
PROUD WARRIORS
Leonin are supremely proud individuals who view themselves as superior to everyone they meet. Their combination of cunning, stealth, and power gives them sometimes foolhardy confidence which infuses everything they do. Male Leonin tend to court conflict as a way to establish dominance. Hierarchy is extremely important as it indicates where the individual stands in relation to the pride; a social dynamic that extends to Leonin traveling with non-Leonin as well Ever ambitious, male Leonin will instigate differences of opinion, arguments and physical contests as a way to test themselves and attempt to raise their standing in the group. This rarely results in actual combat or injury. In the pride, male Leonin are primarily responsible for protecting the group against threats, though they do hunt as well The strongest of the alpha males is called the Tau, he does not “rule” the pride as such.
Most important decisions are made by females. Unlike their male counterparts, female Leonins take a more egalitarian approach, gravitating toward cooperation to overcome obstacles or foes. Where the male Leonin tend to view themselves as individuals, female Leonin see the advantages of inequality. In a pride, every female is more or less equal They are the primary hunters as well as caretakers of the young. When situations call for the female Leonin to command, discipline or confront one of the males ( even the Tau), they do so as a group, presenting a unified front against which no male ever succeeds. Loyalty to the pride or group is hard-wired into all Leonin regardless of gender. It is fine for a werelion to bully his or her pridemate.
