Arhi Umbra

The Shining Order

Overview

Mission and Goal

The Shining Order, founded initially as the Eastern Order of Collegiate Circles, is one of the most prolific organizations in the former territory of the empire. It is known for educating people in a secular manner, teaching the responsible use of magic, purchasing and donating supplies to those hurt by famine, and collecting knowledge.

Order Structure

The order is led by the Assolair, a position that means Archscholar. The Assolair is assigned primarily to ensuring that the organization is run correctly, but also is the one who makes policies regarding diplomacy with countries and the Kirrentai.
Below the Assolair is the Taissolair, meaning Greatscholar, these people are assigned with running institutions such as colleges and whatnot; the Taissolair reports directly to the assistants of the Assolair.
Below the Taissolair is the Omassolair, meaning scholar of thought; the Omassolair are those assigned to be staff under the Taissolair or Assolair. These inidviduals have authority over the rest of the inductees.
Below the Omassolair are the minor ranks, with all of them being classified as Solaire, meaning scholar. They perform most activities that do not require administrative oversight.

History

The Arhi Umbra was founded as the "Asteri Umbra dai Ekkioni Kirsime" in Immestrai at a castle in the western alps in 1368, the name meaning Eastern Order of Collegiate Circles. The order was initially founded as a way to regulate the quality of academia, collect and reproduce important works, and to help universities gain leverage as a political entity. It was initially popular in Immestrai and Ischurrai, but soon Dirai of Ischurrai became a patron and brought it to Soranna, where it adopted the later name "Arhi Umbra dai Ekkioni Kirsime," the Shining Order of Collegiate Circles.
By the year 1390, the organization was invested in helping provide relief in communities damaged by war and conflict with the goal of being able to later train scholars from these communities and get their assistance when necessary; despite the early political goals, the order began to take on this humanitarian struggle for moral purposes after it began to work with the Kirrentai in 1416. Since 1416, the order has created several universities and worked with others to create the largest knowledge base in the history of Nirann, centered around their original home, castle Livissa.
