Atshara Ileshai an Ilsairi
Atshara Ileshai an Ilsairi
History
Early Life
Atshara was born in the city of Anniste, to a family of warrior-priests that claimed descent from the Ilsairi clan that ruled the old Ilsairi Ketsing. Atshara was an ambitious kid, quickly entering the service of local warlords as a mercenary during his teen years. he fought all over northern Nirann, eventually meeting the king of Korthai and establishing contact with some of the last branches of the old Kirrentai. Feeling swayed by them, he converted to the Kirrentai's religion before continuing his journeys. On his return home from battles in Soranna, he passed through a series of ruins where he met a dragon inhabiting the ruins; unlike most of his kind, this dragon had the ability to speak. Atshara sat down and spoke to it for three days, and on the end it had entered his service. By his twenties he had gathered a coalition of allies and defeated his enemies at the battle of Lilerinn, going on to establish his capital on the site of his victory. In the years following this, he declared himself King of the Ischurri and used his new power to recruit the Ederi and fight back against the remaining Gentari hordes in the west of Ischarra. He won a decisive victory in Ijisal region, pushing on to unite the modern realm of Ischarra. He would centralize for a few years after this, settling the Ederi in the southern realm. It was at this point that he learned to fly on the back of the dragon he befriended, becoming renowned as the first rider of dragons. In this time he expanded the military and readied his army for a campaign to the south.
Years later his men flooded over the mountains into Soranna, taking over the old capital of Soranna and establishing control over the old capital region as well as the city of Miavia. He would declare himself the emperor of the Niranni and reestablished the old Kirrentai in the city. In 1358 he would finally sack Ornemere, ending the war of dethronement. He continued good relations with Korthai and Anesari states, focusing on reestablishing his control over Soranna and the Alsivai regions.
He spent his later years largely training his warrior skills; especially that of archery and swordplay. He held great hunts and warrior tournaments in his land, recruiting the winners to his cause. Despite not being old, official narrative claims he would later die in a battle against a great demon spirit near to the site of Akhazal, with his body would be returned to Ijisal. His son Dirai became the emperor and deified his father as a great warrior spirit. In reality, the situation is much more complex as this narrative has largely been disproven, with the actual cause of death being assassination. It is said that Atshara was a harsh ruler on those who opposed him, with his generals fearing and admiring the man. As Atshara was gathering an army to subjugate the Immestri lands, a Saarzhang assassin is said to have killed the emperor with a fatal bowshot that struck the neck of the lord; it is also noted that Atshara was able to survive long enough to identify his attacker and fire back, killing him prior to collapsing.
