Niranni Spirit Offerings

Overview

In worship, the Niranni conduct a series of rituals known as Sojmanne or Sojkirman to please the gods in worship.

Rituals

Purification

All rituals or actions that involve anything spiritual must involve purification. The standard way to do this completely is to submerge oneself in a pool of water, but the minimum one should do is rinse their hands and hair with water, as well as their mouth. After this, the individual dries their hand via the air and is then permitted to perform the proper rites.

Offering

Upon the proper offering place whether it be a pyre, altar, or table, one must place the food offering and leave it for a period lasting an hour. If it is retrievable, in the case of an altar or table, then it is permitted to be shared and eaten. If the offering is one that is inedible, then the items are to be destroyed via fire if possible. Items useful enough can be recycled for use to create things like shrines.
Proper offerings to give are handmade items, food that is cooked and preferably salted, items of mental value, etc. Popular offerings are things such as prayers written for the ancestors or spirits that are burnt on an offering place for the spirits, food that is given to the spirits, sentimental items such as dolls or toys, flowers and plants, etc.
These rituals often take place on the majority of holidays, but often people offer food to the local spirits whenever they can afford to as an attempt to appease them. The shrines are often decorated with dolls and offerings of salt when they arent being actively given things like food. Salt is seen as a holy purifying item, and is why it is given.
