Tahan Moghai

Tahan Moghai

Overview

Tahan Moghai is a city along the Gendur river as well as the capital of the Gentari Khaganate. It is named for the Palace Tahan Moghai.

History

Foundings

The city wasnt founded as a settlement, but rather it was the site where clan rulers met once when one of the tribe leaders named Suigan called for a meeting of the Gentari tribes. This site hosted a variety of tents and yurts in 842, when the young tribesman Suigan proposed a unification of the Gentari. This was rejected and the tribes returned to feuding. Suigan kept calling meetings with his vassals at this site every year until 1864, where Suigan commanded his tent on top of the hill overlooking the river to be turned into a palace in the Soranni style. Thus, the site of camps where nobles met yearly began to be developed into a proper city as Suigans tent was turned into a palace.

Imperial Gentari Period

The Gentari during their height used the city as one of their capitals prior to the fracturing of the realm, at which point it became the capital of the new Orhad Khanate ruled by the descendants of the first son of Suigan.

Layout and Geography

Layout

The city itself is built around a central palace-citadel, which the Khan calls his residence. Surrounding the citadel is a series of wooden and earthen homes, which is further surrounded by yurts and tents. This squared shape eventually tapers off as further out the buildings get placed more haphazardly.

Geography

The city is built on a series of low hills that overlook the river Gendur. The city receives a consistent covering of snow every year due to the fact it is on the northern steppe and receives some moisture from the northern sea that gets dropped by the clouds as they near the hills and mountains of the region.
