War of Shattered Blades
The War of Shattered Blades
Overview
The War of Shattered Blades, known in Imperial as Senn dai Ang Rann, was a conflict that occured in the early years following the collapse of the Ilsairi Ketsing, resulting in the commencement of the true warring states period, in which no one state solidified control until the 1300s when Ischurrai invaded.Environment
The war took place after the Shattering, an event in which spirits rocked the mortal plane. It was in this time that the clans had to contend with spirits and demons in their battles, as well as the fact that much of the world population had died.History
In the year 966, the Ilsairi Dynasty had been reduced to southern Soranna while the northern half had been occupied by Gentari nomads. The shattering rocked the area, forcing the ruling Ilsairi to flee the city; some of the royal family left for Ischurrai to escape the Gentari, while most went to Irasaci. The Gendur, surviving the shattering decently well due to the large fighting force that was fighting the Gentari, began to reorganize around a successful general in 972 named Miing dai Tamora, from the Ilsairi warrior branch house Sume. Tamora set up a military presence around Korisangtaai, where he took over the surrounding areas peacefully through dispelling spirits, eventually declaring himself an Emperor of the new Hishing dynasty, taking the name Arinhe Hishing. The Arinhe Emperor over the next few years would expand his realm around the southern Gendur, and eventually into Soranna. The general he sent into Soranna, his cousin Ishang took command of many of the southern regions before rebelling 0 years later, declaring the Faa'ruan dynasty in 993. Arinhe challenged Ishang to a duel, which he declined and was subsequently killed in 996 by an assassin sent by Arinhe. Arinhe decided not to pursue south but to instead solidify his holdings in the north. In the chaotic aftermath of the killing, multiple families presented potential heirs to the Faa'ruan realm due to the fact that Ishang had several concubines. Two warrior clans, the Aruzan (AKA: Gensira) and Ezhe (AKA: Ilarren) split the court until the tensions boiled over when an Ezhe warrior challenged an Aruzan warrior to a duel, which was refused; the warrior killed the Aruzan one anyways and thus a conflict began. Clan Aruzan was led by Imhua "Gensung" an Aruzan, while Ezhe was led by Aajime "Tivanha" an Ezhe. Imhua defeated Aajime, killing him and banishing his children to the city of Kamkurai. Imhua ruled strongly, uniting much of the region around the gulf of Soranna and expanding towards the north and facing off against the sons of Arin'he. In time, Imhua destroyed the rest of the Faa'ruan realm proclaiming himself generalissimo of Soranna while attempting to force the Ilsairi into submission at Irasaci. Since the Ilsairi resisted under Iorasora, they were snuffed out.
In 1021, a son and daughter of Aajime, along with their cousin, marched to the east and overthrew Imhua, leading to the final half of the war of Shattered Blades. This latter half saw Kaisuua of Ezhe destroy most of the Arozan clan in revenge, sending them into exile past the shores of the lake. It was in this time that the war ended, with the Ezhe dominating the Soranni peninsula before turning on each other, while the rest of the Soranni clans began to act independently, leading to the loss of control that resulted in the warring states era.
