Eshen
Structure
Eshen is ruled by a group called the Circle. This is a small group composed of the wealthiest business owners in the country. The Circle decides everything for the entire nation, from legislation to foreign relations. Members of the Circle have a team of trusted advisors that they may appoint upon induction to assist in unfamiliar areas of governance. These individuals continue to run their businesses during their rule, for every ten years, an audit of the major companies occurs to determine if any transitions of power must be made. Eshen does this to promote continued competition both within and outside the Circle.
Technological Level
The pride of Eshen is its inventions. Since its independence, a sense of urgency towards innovation was introduced. Reliance on magic was out of the question due to the practice quickly became taboo. Individuals who believed they could replace the amenities they lost were eagerly supported and funded. Eshen can boast of communication devices, firearms, long-lasting lights, industrial machines, and newly, trains. How a piece of technology works is not understood by the general populous but gratefully used by those who can afford it.
Religion
Eshen governance is completely secular with antireligious legislation. Any form of belief in a deity or afterlife has been outlawed within the nation. For the most part, these laws prevent any organizations of faith from forming and do not criminalize individuals. However, these individuals must be quiet about their beliefs and are banned from preaching or gathering with others of shared faith. These laws, combined with social contracts and the isolated nature of Eshen has resulted in an atheistic majority. Punishments for followers of the Chaimor tend to be more severe than for practitioners of other religions.
Agriculture & Industry
Cut off from all outside trade, Eshen had to become completely self-reliant. The country boasts of fertile farms, a booming textile trade, and a new flourishing steel production sector.
