The Lattice

A realm between Mirizel and the spirit realm. A flat plane of changing purple hues, low hanging mist, and bizarre otherworldly creatures. Said to have been created to house creations of the Chaimor too dangerous for the world. Others believe ancient people brought animals into the lattice and they changed to fit their harsh environment over centuries. Due to the danger these creatures pose, the most common use of the lattice is to travel quickly from place to place. However, it is quite difficult to open doors into the lattice, and so the average person is not aware of the lattice's existence.   The lattice is called such because it is theorized to be the structure with which the world was grown. Mirizel exists like a plant growing up a wall. It uses the lattice as a foundation to expand and stabilize. Similar to its real-world counterpart, the mortal world stays primarily on one side of the lattice, but there are portions worn down with time scattered throughout. Those with a religious mind are of the opinion that these sections are where the spirit world brushes closer to the material plane. This friction between the two worlds strains the barrier and causes weak spots to form. No matter the cause, this phenomenon manifests in Mirizel through holes into the lattice which are known to react to mages with less effort from the caster.
