General Summary

1489 DR - Spring - 15, Mirtul (5) - Sword Coast, Waterdeep, Oakhurst
• The crew enters the Yawning Portal, supposedly a hub for finding work, to start earning gold and power to establish themselves. Toward what end is not yet clear, but somethings is driving them. • They find several curious artifacts, notably a symbol of Bane that entrances them, and in truth appears as a black sun to only them. • They meet an odd halfling named Jeryth, who offers them a task for 5000g! a monstrous sum. They will need to retrive a healing apple and a specific orb from the Sunless Citadel, a sunken dragon cult fortress near the town of Oakhurst, east of Neverwinter. They accept. • Traveling to the town, they investigate the goings on, to learn about the apple seeds being stolen when saplings, the missing heroes, and the Goblins that sell an apple every season, one that heals and one that diseases. • They depart for the citadel, and enter it’s depths. • They explore the area and avoid pit traps and fight skeletonsto venture deeper. • They rescue a small Kobold who is distraught about losing the clans dragon. o They convince him to help them but then move away from the Kobold areas • They enter ruined sections of the citadel and discover trapped fountains, both triggered by Fallentree reading the Draconic words aloud. The first fountain heals, the second triggers a gas trap. • They find a nest occupied by a horribly diseased bloated rat, with woody tumors all over it. Lucyan understands some of its screams. • They continue deeper only to find several Goblin ambush points, where they duel at range with an entrenched foe. They move forward slowly but lose Meepo the kobold in the bustle. • They find a locked room with a cruel female voice on the other side. She threatens them to let her out, but isn’t swayed to do much else. • They continue in to the goblin warrens, only to find a self styled Chief, who they are unable to understand and inadvertently trigger to attack. The fight with him, his shaman, and his guards is violent and difficult, lasting a long time and bringing the crew to their knees. They barely survive.
