Black cat of Yogon
Once upon a time,
There was a black cat. Who chased mice and other rodents on the countryside.
His owners were stern and unlikable. Never gave him a treat or a day off.
One day the Dragon King came to the cat's hometown. Together with his daughter the Dragon Princes.
She was the most beautiful woman that the black cat has ever seen.
"We are plagued by a black-hearted wizard." The Dragon King said. "His magic knows no bounds." The villagers gathered around the Dragon King, including the black cat. "Who chases him away, will earn my daughter's hand in marriage." That sounded like music in the cat's ears.
The crowed melted down, and the cat was the only one who remained. The Dragon Princes looked at him and smiled.
The cat knew for sure, he would do what ever it takes to complete the task. So he went on his way.
The wizard lived on the Dark Mountain. It was difficult to climb, even for a cat. But he didn't give up.
He climbed and climbed until he reached the wizard's home. A small hut built on a ridge.
The cat entered without knocking, because he didn't have to he was a cat. The wizard was home and the man was surprised to see the animal. But he didn't chase him away.
"Hello my friend. What a pleasant surprise." The wizard said. "Can you do me a favor, I have a bit of a problem." The cat listened intently to the wizard. What kind of problem could be solved by a cat? A rodent problem, of course. "There is a group of mice that lives inside my pantry." The cat looked at the cabinet and walked towards it. He indeed saw the traces of mice, but this gave him also a great idea.
He waited until the night fall, and the family of mice appeared.
The cat walked towards the father mice.
"We need to talk." The cat mauwed. The father mouse nodded. "That man is a plague on this land, and needs to leave." The father mice nodded again.
"What do you have in mind." The father mouse squeaked.
"Get as much of your friends, in here. Appear in everything, his cabinets, his bed, pots and pans. His socks." The cat mauwed on. "I promise I will not chase you." Father mouse agreed and went away.
The next day the house was filled with mice. They could be found in every corner and every hole. Everywhere the wizard looked there were mice.
The man started to plea with the black cat.
"Please, save me from this nightmare." The man said.
"I can't." The cat mauwed. "The Dragon King has forbidden the hunt on mice."
"Forbidden you say." The wizard replied and the cat nodded.
"It applies to all the cats inside the kingdom of Yogon." The cat mauwed on. The wizard sighed and lowered his head.
"Then I have no other choice than to move out of the kingdom." The wizard said. "My dear friend, I will leave you my boots and my hat. As proof of me leaving." The wizard said and gave him a simple head and his boots. Which the cat took, the wizard left his home and the kingdom the same day.
The black cat began his descent of the mountain, wearing the wizard's hat and his boots.
The cat walked straight to the palace on the White Mountain. There he met the Dragon King and his daughter.
"Your highness. I, the Black cat have chased away the wizard. To prove my deed, I have here the wizard's boots and hat." The cat mauwed loudly. The Dragon King stood up from his throne.
"Then you have earned my daughter's hand in marriage, brave Black Cat." The Dragon King said.
The princes walked over and picked up the black cat, softly she placed a kiss on his head.
"I can not wait, until we are married. My brave warrior." She said.
What a fun little fairy tale! I like the cat and the mice teaming up, and the pictures are really cute! Thank you for your entry!
