This myth was believed to be a myth for over 2921 years. It is now no longer a myth or legend told to children to stay away from the ruin on the hill. It is a myth coming to life and hunts the village Iluzan.Summary
The night was young, and the village had bled out to the castle on the hill. It was not that long ago that all of them were slaves and Iluzan a small village away from all the magical creatures that used them for what ever was a nice escape. The castle on the hill once belonged to an older woman, once she was a human, but changed into one of the magical beings. A Wizard, she was nice and kind, but she had died a year before. This was the reason all the villagers came to her home. To mourn their loose, to talk about her respectfully. They brought food, wine, musical instruments. Although it was not an evening for enjoyment, still everybody who knew her, knew that she loved music and good food.
The night went on, the music filled the rooms of the castle. The delicious smell of the food was water mouthing, but laughter or the cheerful conversation was not present. Hell nobody spoke at all, not because nobody had anything to say, there were stories enough. But there was something that prevented them to speak, something inside the castle. Nobody knew what it was, but people were starting to leave the castle and the strange feeling. Until there was only a small group of four of the woman closest friend were left. Again nobody spoke, and all of them hated the way they felt. This was their good friend's home, but it didn't feel like her home anymore. It didn't feel like a home at all, more like a prison. But what held it prisoner? They didn't know. One of them started to speak softly, like he was afraid that something might hear him.
"Do you remember, Nana's last words?" he asked. And all of them nodded. Nana, as they called her, said something about a dark presence inside the castle. A presence that was not there before, a presence that made their friend at unease in her own home. "Maybe..." he started. But he couldn't finish his sentence, he fell to the floor, like a rage doll that got its strings cut. His wife dived after him, to see what was wrong. He grabbed her and bit her neck. His eyes were completely black, his skin paperlike. He had changed in a matter of seconds. His wife started to change right in front of their eyes. One of them started screaming and ran out of the castle, the other friend was not so lucky. He was jumped by his friend and turned into one of them.
The friend that had fled the castle bumped into woman, one of Nana's wizard friend. She was not present at the event, presumably late.
"What is wrong?" the woman asked, and the friend tried to tell her. But failed to get the complete message across. The wizard however understood that there was something going on inside the castle. Something dark and evil. She told the woman to stay here, and is she was not back before the moon reached the midpoint, to warn the other villagers and leave the village behind at once. The woman agreed, still shaken up. She watched as the wizard entered the castle, she waited and waited. Until the moon was inches away from the midpoint. She was ready to turn her back on the castle, to do as the wizard had told her. When the wizard rushed out of the castle, turned around at the opening of the door. Said something loudly in a language the friend couldn't understand. But she understood it was a spell of some sorts. The friend could see, something growing on the walls of the castle. The snow covered ground became covered with the plant like material as well. "The plants are here to protect the village against the evil inside these walls." The wizard said. Coming towards the friend, her face covered in pearls of sweat. "But it will not hold them forever." The friend nodded.
"I will warn the whole village, telling them that the castle is too dangerous to enter from now on." The friend said and the wizard nodded. She collapsed, to the ground. Probably from the spell and the fight with the unnamed evil.
The next morning the friend told the villagers what happened, some didn't believe her at first. Saying she made it up, to scare them away. But the next night there were cries, that were unnatural. Even in this enchanted world full of magic. The friend moved away shortly after that not being seen again, and for the three others who were still inside the castle. Well let's say nobody wants to find out.
Historical Basis
All of Fantaseria have heard about this story that dates back out the Era of Fear. An Era that was filled with monsters and the mistakes the Gods made in that time. The village Iluzan is still there and is known for the ruin of that said castle on the hill. The hill and the walls left standing are covered with a climbing plant that only grows inside this kingdom Winter Ivie.
Cultural Reception
Because the story took place in the Era of Fear, it is believed to be true. Although the villagers that live there now believe the evil that once occupied the ruin is long gone. Only as people no matter the species inside Mirror World know, nothing is truthy gone for good.
It has being reported that the evil has returned almost 22 years ago, and took over all the children's bodies and even some adults. The villagers are still living in the shadow of the ruin and the evil that lives there.
In Art
This picture is the only picture that has being made from the ruin. No other piece of art has survived the test of time. It is being believed that even having an image of the ruin hanging somewhere inside your home invites the unnamed evil into your house. Of course, it is not known if this is true, or if this is a spin-off from the legend of myth. A myth that has come back to live.
