Werewolves are a rare subspecies of vampires. Created by the Moon Goddess.
Werewolves are born, not created by a bite or by a virus. The condition is being passed from mother to their daughters. For some strange reason the men are not effected. But they can pass it down to their daughters.
Another strange part of this condition is that it only affects one family. The Howl family.

Causes

Well when the Moon Goddess gave the Vampires the lands of everlasting night, she also selected on female to create a new subspecies. To keep the Stormdigo's in the other dimension.

Symptoms

The women of the Howl family, are able to change form after their sixth birthday. On the night of their sixth birthday they get a dream where they are visited by the Alpha of the pack. This is seen as a rite of passage.

There is no treatment

Cultural Reception

Vampires see this subspecies as abominations and for that reason are hunted down. To the point that the Werewolves are driven near extinction. Which menace that the Stormdigo's are howling at the gate.
