Genetics and Reproduction

The winter wasps are living in a hive, and have a queen and king. Which directly are also their parents, they are the only two wasps that can reproduce. When a new queen or king is born one member of the hive takes the larvae and takes it to a new hive. Hoping that a newborn king from another hive joins them.   Winter wasp queen lays her eggs in a cluster and let her other children take care of the rest.

Growth Rate & Stages

The winter wasp goes into three stadiums of growth.
  1. Larvea 1-2 weeks after hatching of its egg
  2. Cocoon 2-8 weeks after hatching
  3. Wasp 8 week until death
So a wasp needs 8 weeks after hatching to grow into an adult wasp.
