High Sage

Qualifications

1. They need to demonstrate great ability to communicate with Singyue, as well as being recognised by the Elders of the Grove for their abilities to lead and interpret Singyue’s will.
2. Extensive knowledge and proficiency in performing complex rituals, ceremonies, and magical practices.
3. In-depth understanding of the religion's sacred texts, myths, and oral traditions, and ability to interpret and teach these texts to others, ensuring their preservation and correct practice.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of herbalism and natural medicine, and skilled in healing practices, combining physical remedies with spiritual healing.
5. Prior experience in leading ceremonies, guiding spiritual practices, and making decisions for the community, and respected by peers and followers for wisdom, compassion, and fairness.
6. Proven ability to train and inspire the next generation of spiritual leaders.
7. Exemplary moral character, demonstrating virtues such as honesty, humility, and selflessness, and known for wise decision-making and the ability to mediate conflicts within the community.
8. Undertaken a significant spiritual journey or pilgrimage, often involving a period of isolation, fasting, or other forms of intense spiritual practice.
9. Supported by the broader community through rituals, signs, or communal consensus., and especially by the Elders of the Grove
10. Believed to have received a sign or blessing from the Fae God, indicating their chosen status.

Requirements

A minimum of 20 years in some leadership role is required before someone can become eligible for the rank.

Appointment

1. The candidate is ritually cleansed with blessed water from a sacred spring. Burning of special herbs and incense to purify the air and the candidate.
2. Elders and participants chant sacred hymns and sing songs to invoke the presence of Singyue. A senior Elder recites an invocation prayer, calling upon Singyue to bless the ceremony and the candidate.
3. The candidate is anointed with oils made from sacred plants, symbolizing their connection to the divine and nature. A symbol of Singyue is drawn on the candidate’s forehead with the sacred oil.
4. The Elders of the Grove publicly recites the candidate’s qualifications, achievements, and spiritual journey. Elders and community members offer words of endorsement and support.
5. The candidate is presented with a ceremonial staff, symbolizing their authority and wisdom.
6. An amulet or pendant, representing Singyue’s blessing and protection, is placed around the candidate’s neck.
7. The candidate recites an oath, pledging to serve Singyue and the community with integrity, wisdom, and compassion.
8. Tying a ribbon around the candidate’s wrist, signifying the binding of their soul to their new role.
9. Witnessing Sun shower hot without prior warning is witnessed as a confirmation of Sungyue’s approval.
10. A senior Elder formally proclaims the candidate as the new High Sage. The community approaches the High Sage, offering blessings, gifts, and words of support.
11. The ritual concludes with a communal feast, music, and dancing, celebrating the new High Sage’s ascension. Offerings of food, flowers, and other items are often made to Singyue in gratitude and reverence.
