Personal history
He was born in Maefyzer, having lost most of his biological family before he hit puberty from the Psykofungi Sickness. It motivated him to research a cure for the sickness, spending countless hours day and night reading books and performing tests. As a teen, he was able to develop a basic talisman for humans to carry around to protect them from the mind controlling mushrooms, as the spell to conjure said protection was inaccessible to most humans.
That invention caught the attention of a local magical college, who invited him to enrol. He didn’t think he could benefit much from it, but still decided to try it out. Being a student there he quickly realised that his magical abilities were much more powerful than that of the average human. By the end of his time at the college, Highking Gyala was searching for a new court wizard, and held a contest for students, where participants had to write an essay on their theories for how magic works, with Hyalbtz being the winner.
As the new Highking’s Royal Wizard, he became popular pretty fast as he’s the first ever human to get the position. He was so popular, that many noble ladies would try to propose to him, but he rejected them all, being rather open about being gay and ace.
As he got comfortable in the position he worked hard to test out the theory presented in his essay, as well as secretly being interested in the dark arts. He wasn’t directly in contact with liches, as far as he was aware, but still was interested in studying their history.
