Sign Post
Utility
It’s used to help guide travellers to a specific settlement. It’s often used in the black market to help criminals find places to but illegal items.
Social Impact
It’s made adventuring and general travelling much easier to do, endorsing many to explore outside of their settlements more.
Access & Availability
It’s pretty common to come across instead of regular non magical sign posts, though it isn’t as common in more rural areas with less government activity.
Complexity
It’s rather easy to use. It’s charged using the power of people’s magic by absorbing spells through the orb. This helps to also create surplus energy for humans or similar folk with little to no magical abilities.
For magic beings, they simply speak to the orb at the post the town or city they’re trying to get to. As long as they possess any knowledge of what’s in the location it’s impossible to accidentally be misled to a similarly named location.
Those who can’t access the orb’s power need a portable version that comes as either a lantern, or a rose compass. Both pieces of tech will automatically absorb power from the orb to recharge itself, allowing users to utilise the power in the same way, but through the power of fire and magnetisation.
Discovery
The first successful post was made by Highking Yøn’s court wizard, Anoræ the First.
