Singyue’s Lantern

Mechanics & Inner Workings

No one knows exactly how it works, they just know Singyue is present when the lantern glows. There’s no source for a fire or anything in the lantern, it just glows a bright blue.

History

Singyue mysteriously disappeared after ascending to godhood, while only leaving behind a single trace of her existence; a lantern.   The first High Sage, Pan, understood the immense significance of the artifact he had discovered. This realization dawned upon him after he managed to establish contact with Singyue, the revered deity, for the first time since her mysterious disappearance. In a moment of profound revelation, Pan knew that this artifact was to be used in the sacred rites and ceremonies of the cult. The inaugural ceremony, blessed with the artifact's presence, marked a pivotal moment in the cult's history. From that day forward, the artifact has been imbued with sacred meaning, transforming into a symbol of divine favor and an essential element of the cult’s religious practices. Its usage has been woven into the fabric of their ceremonial traditions, enhancing their spiritual significance and strengthening the cult's connection to Singyue.   Because the cult’s approximately to liches and the likes, it’s become quite a valuable object that’s sought after. Enemy liches believe the lantern can be used for their own purposes, and have made multiple attempts to steal it. One lich, Eboriq, had managed to successfully steal it, although he mysteriously died before he could attempt to use the lantern for his own purposes.   Since then every High Sage after has been heavily guarded by dark elf twins, Rooshout and Ua, preventing anyone from attempting to steal the lantern.
