Supreme Lord
Supreme Lord is one rank below that who holds the ultimate power, the Void himself. The position was created to represent him and handle all Hell related duties when he's not around.
Qualifications
They need to be the strongest in Hell, as well as hold the same agenda for how Hell should be run. In order for the Void to even entertain your desires to be Supreme Lord, you need to be a regular Lord to begin with.
Requirements
There's a few tests one needs to take, and pass all in order to gain the title. Two separate background checks (one to see if they're already a Lord, and another to see what kind of person they are), and a physical exam where they must fight with others who want the spot. Those who already hold the position must also participate whenever challenged to a fight.
Appointment
There's no special ceremonies or anything. If they pass the background checks, and win the fights, they're automatically assigned to the position.
Duties
Making sure Lords aren't fighting with each other (unless to move up in rank).
Responsibilities
Ensuring that the Lords do their due diligence in being a representative, and seeing to that settlements are running smoothly.
Benefits
That person and any family they have gets to live in the biggest castle in Hell, where all their basic needs are met with free food, shelter, and clothes (if they want them). They also hold the highest power politically aside for the Void.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Without the Void's presence someone can only be removed if they either were discovered to lie about their status as a Lord, or if they lose a fight, even if the person that fought them wasn't a Lord. With the Void however, they can be removed for any reason, but the Void tries to make it fair, only removing them if they show weakness by losing a battle. He won't remove someone if they lied about being a Lord, viewing it as a sign of strength.
The removal process can happen in either one of three ways. First one being the former SL and their family relocated (either to their former home, or a new home granted by the new SL). The second way is them being killed either through battle, or if executed for refusing to leave, but allowing the family to move wherever if they all disown the former leader. The last way is the former leader also being killed either through battle, or if executed for refusing to leave, and the family being executed as well if they stand by his side or protest the cull. Most bloodlines that were intentionally wiped out were ridden of because of this method of removal.
