The Ambassador’s Escorts
Composition
Manpower
Eight knights are implicit within the formation, even though the Ambassador really doesn’t need them.
Equipment
Two are healers, one for potions and the other for general magic use. Four knights specialise in different magic (one is elemental, one is runes, one is spells, and the last one is incantations). The last two knights specialise in regular weapons, with one using melee equipment and the other using ranged weapons
Weaponry
All knights are required to carry short swords. The magic users additionally have wands or a staff. The melee attack knight additionally has an axe, whilst the long-ranged attack knight has two sets of bows (one made specially for penetrating steel plate armour).
Vehicles
They all share two carriages. One is mostly a decoy, but useful for carrying all the supplies the ambassador gets. The main one is often cloaked by the magic users, used for guarding and transporting the ambassador on long-distanced travelling.
Structure
As there’s only eight men, there really isn’t much of a structure to it. The incantation knight is leader of all the knights, and takes direct orders from the ambassador.
Tactics
The most common tactic they use is having the mages use illusion magic to disguise the ambassador, that way would-be attackers would go after a knight or attack random objects.
Training
Learning how to fight is imperative for the knights, and they undergo rigorous training on a regular basis to keep in shape. Once a month they even get training from the Paladins of the Eclipse themselves.
Logistics
Recruitment
The only races excluded from recruitment are high elves and humans, as humans generally aren’t powerful enough, and high elves tend to be rather frail. Dark elves and ivierae are most favoured for their powers and specialised abilities.
History
There’s been quite a few skirmishes as expected in a world that started out hostile towards demons, but none quite as important to mention than one fight between a high elf lich, who sought immortality just to try and kill the ambassador as revenge for “causing” the torment that high elves face on a constant basis. It lasted a whole week, with the lich using necromancy to do most of the work for him.
Historical loyalties
The ambassador most importantly, and the Void secondarily. Anyone else they show loyalty towards openly is directed by the ambassador.
You're very thorough in describing the unit itself, but I was confused as to who the ambassador was and why she needed protecting. I think this article would benefit from a couple of sentences in the vignette to introduce the topic and ground the reader.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll be sure to update it after Summer Camp is over
