Voidmold
Basic Information
Anatomy
There is no official anatomy for them, as they’re made of clay. It has no organs, bones, blood, or anything of the sort except multiple pair of eyes. As infants, they just look like a little blob of clay with eyes on the top.
Though they technically don’t have organs, the closest it gets is an empty sac of air inside itself that it uses to reproduce, and make itself grow.
Biological Traits
They have ink black colouring that can absorb most light hitting them. In some cases, they can be iridescent so long as the clay they’re composed of has a higher concentration of oil.
Genetics and Reproduction
The voidmold are sexless, and thus reproduce asexually. They actually do this by sucking in a source of clay, converting the molecules to be of their kind, and then spitting it back out. Depending on the size they gobble up, it can take anywhere between 1 day to a month. It’s also how they get themselves to grow in size, but they just absorb the clay instead of spitting it out.
Growth Rate & Stages
Officially they don’t have growth stages outside of what’s perceived for them to be “infants” (before they’ve consumed any clay to grow), and mature (after they’ve grown).
How quick it grows varies based on clay deposits, time needed to process said clay, and their owner’s permission to grow if they’re kept as a pet.
Ecology and Habitats
They can technically do just fine in any unfrozen environments, though for the best capability to continue growing and reproduce, they require high humidity and cooler temperatures to keep them from hardening and solidifying their forms completely.
These requirements for living is in part why they’ve become endangered, as Hell is constantly getting hotter and hotter.
Dietary Needs and Habits
All it requires is water monthly
Biological Cycle
During the rainy season, they become more prone to losing their shape and accidentally reproducing as the rain in Hell hits hard. So long as they’re trained to, they can easily reform themselves.
Behaviour
They’re more akin to dogs in terms of behaviour, as they’re fiercely loyal and protective of their owners so long as they’re treated with the proper care.
Additional Information
Social Structure
When they existed in the wild, they had no concept of a hierarchy. They were often raised and assigned a specific role within their group, all treating each other as equals.
Domestication
Not many changes have been made through domestication, though reproducing has been altered to allow it to occur almost limitlessly whereas voidmold could only reproduce 18 times in their life.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
They’re essentially being used as free labour. When trained for it, they can excel exceedingly well in a few of a variety of different tasks. Within the Supreme Lord’s castle city, they’re mostly known for providing transportation within the winding hallways of the castle.
Average Intelligence
On average, their intelligence can be compared to crows
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Utilising its pores, it can distinguish between different temperatures and wind flow, as well as vibrations.
As they don’t have ears, they’re deaf, and rely on the vibrations they can sense for communication with their owners.
Though they have many sets of eyes, their eye sight is usually poor. They at least have the advantage of manipulating their sight range based on what they’re trying to accomplish (like forward facing eyes for fighting, or a ring of eyes around their head to scan their surroundings).
Civilization and Culture
Major Language Groups and Dialects
They use a form of eye movement to communicate with others
History
When they were in the wild, they had much higher intelligence on average. It wasn’t long before the heat began increasing throughout Hell that they became desperate for help, sought out the help of a previous Supreme Leader, who agreed to help them in exchange for their work.
As the new Supreme Lord took over, he decided to work towards domesticating the voidmold, to make them more compliant as they kept demanding more equal treatment. Eventually they got to a state where they were about just as intelligent as crows, and able to be trained as pets; no longer equal to regular demons with the same level of sapience.
Lifespan
Ageless, though in improper care and environments usually last for 4,000 years on average
Conservation Status
They’re endangered, no longer occurring in the wild. There is no official measure to protect them, at least outside of forbidding regular denizens of Hell from owning one.
